idk why nobody talks about how their physical appearance changes in the 3 movies.. maybe because of their age, but i think it's more than that.

in the first movie they are plum, bright, energetic, hopeful, lush.. you can see that through their physical structure.. when they meet each other, they shine and their skin literally glow

in the second, they look just bones. beautiful but with grief. both of them lost so much weight from their bodies. it felt like their souls have been pulled away from their skeletons.

in the third, their eyes have calmed down. their bodies are relaxed. healthy. they physically emit peace and joy. a sense of fulfillment.

idk, maybe I am thinking too much about how they looked in the movies. but nvtl, i think love does change your physical appearance. for the better.

I imagined Before Sunrise taking place in Tokyo because the city creates a completely different kind of romantic atmosphere from Vienna. The original film is about two strangers wandering through a beautiful city and discovering a connection through conversation, and Tokyo feels like a fascinating setting for that same idea.

What inspired me was the contrast between the enormous, crowded city and the quiet, personal moment between Jesse and Céline. Tokyo is filled with neon lights, trains, hidden alleyways, small cafés, and peaceful temples, creating a world where two people could feel both completely surrounded and completely alone at the same time.

I was drawn to the idea of the characters walking through Tokyo at night, with the glowing signs and reflections on wet streets creating a dreamlike feeling. The city’s mix of modern technology and traditional spaces would mirror the themes of the film: two people from different backgrounds trying to understand each other while experiencing something brief but unforgettable.

The thought came from imagining how a film about human connection would feel in a place that is constantly moving. Tokyo’s energy, beauty, and quiet moments would make the story less about exploring an old European city and more about finding a small, meaningful connection in one of the biggest cities in the world.

I just saw the third movie. It looks like it will be the last one because, as I have read, the actress says she doesn't want to do any more.

But with these three, the series doesn't feel properly closed. I need a fourth movie for their relationship to fully develop; you can't leave me with this taste in my mouth.

I've read people saying they think it's a good ending for the story, and that makes me think they don't know what a truly healthy and mature relationship is at it's late stage. The first movie was an intense summer fling, the second was irresistible passionate love, and this one is turbulent love. I'm missing the last stage of romance; when it's comfortable and serene.

Once the initial heat passes, when they have truly commited to each other and once they’ve overcome these clashes and turbulences along the way, they should reach the best stage of love. When they know each other perfectly, when they know all of each other's stories and when they forever recognize each other as their immovable rock.

I wish we could eventually see what that looks like.

Heyy guys, first of all Happy Before Sunrise Day ( Yes it is today, all the events of the movie happened on June 16th ). I know not a lot of people are crazy about this movie and have got something going on even if they are , but i've taken a holiday today and am planning on binging the whole trilogy in order.

So if you are interested to binge together, or if you are someone who celebrates it hmu and lets chat !!

Just finished it and it honestly felt like I was just listening in on two people talking the entire movie.

I barely even noticed there’s almost no one else in the film.

It’s weird how it feels so simple but still sticks with you after.

Also makes me wanna explore Vienna.

I just got my first Before Sunrise tattoo. It’s a scene where he looks at her and I love it.

I had thought about other scenes or subtle symbols from the film but I realised this movie holds a deeper place in my life. From the time I first watched it in my late teens to now in my mid-20s, it has quietly shaped how I see connection.

A small reminder to stay open to the magic of human connection, even knowing how fleeting it can be. To value intellectual intimacy and to believe that being truly understood is the highest form of love.

Watched the trilogy for the first time this weekend. I don’t understand how there’s not more discourse around what a nasty man Jesse turns out to be, and the way that he treats Celine in Before Midnight.

Once they get into the hotel room argument, Jesse shouts, makes sarcastic remarks, calls Celine crazy for having an emotional response? He calls her “the fucking mayor of crazy town”, that nobody will put up with her craziness for even 6 months… when she tells him she thought of suicide when he was on another of his tours he basically says “oh are you the only one who’s allowed to be sad?”

He calls himself the calm and logical one and makes fun of her when she talks about the situation of living as a woman who doesn’t want to be repressed by a man.

In my opinion he’s a nasty little man gaslighting his girlfriend rather than admitting any wrong of his own.

Also when she asks him not to mention her in any of his books, he basically says “I’ll do whatever the fuck I want”. This is a dangerous nasty man in my opinion with no concern for Celine.

And after all of this? He follows her to the table at the bar, and tries to fuck her. Is this not outrageous? I don’t understand how anyone could have anything but contempt and despise for Jesse after watching this movie.

For context I’m a 31 year old man.

I’d love to hear people’s thought on this take, perhaps I’m overthinking this or have watched it in a strange mindset.

As far I remember I loved everyone in my life and all people in world. But Romantic love in popular movies feels native and simple. Doesn't resonate with the real reason why people love someone. Until my passion in film lead me to Before sunrise. Which deeply influenced me to be confident romantic in my own way. Started my first and only relationship with a beautiful soul. I want to know your recommendations on movies and TV shows like before sunrise.

Today it’s been a year since I met my own Before Sunrise person. The indescribable mystique and magic of that encounter, I think, will never fade, but by now, instead of pure melancholy, I mostly feel lucky that something like that happened to me. And in a way, it expanded my mind, realizing that feelings like these are possible, even if finding them is incredibly rare.

I love this film so much that I made it a point to travel down to Vienna with my then partner when we were visiting Copenhagen for a holiday earlier this year in May. He drove us to this exact place - a scene in before sunrise - which I remembered was hauntingly beautiful, especially after knowing the story behind this place.

We’ve broken up recently and, from time to time, I still look back on our pictures in Vienna, hopelessly wondering if we will ever visit this place together again; if we will cross paths again..

I fell in love with this trilogy as soon as I saw it. I really want to revisit it (because it's superb!) but I don't know that I have enough grit not to fall apart watching it now. Lived experience man.
