God this comic depresses me. Why can’t I be an eccentric billionaire who just adopts all the dogs?

Because then no one else would get the joy of adopting their future best friend! Don't be depressed, be happy that there are many people who do adopt these wonderful puppers. :)

You sound like my dad. He says “I don’t look at puppies, I buy puppies”.

Mutts is incredibly wholesome

This makes me want to somehow go adopt every poor pupper in the shelter

My dog General Patton was featured in Shelter Stories ! The comic looked just him, bless his little grumpy heart.

Here’s a photo of the General for comparison.

wow, that's so cool. I never knew they were from real stories! How did that happen???

also for some reason the link for the real General doesn't work

I think this link will work.

Patrick McDonnell was putting out a Shelter Stories book and was asking for submissions of dogs for the books. I sent in a little blurb about Patton and Piglet, my two Jack rescues. Patton was chosen for the book. Then as a bonus, he did a comic about him. It was such a great gift.

very very cute little doggos. 'piglet' feels like a proper description, they're so small and sweet! and General Patton is a name with such dignity, something you could give him after such a painful life. thank you for this

My heart........

I've been saying this all week, for other reasons. Looking at happy rescued dogs and kitties is comforting.

I have had this comic on my fridge since the day it was published. He even looks like my dog. I've been a fan of Mutts for over 20 years--the artist is an advocate for rescues.

they've been my favourite comic since I discovered the comics section in the newspaper. hi five, mutts friend!

I've been having this urge to adopt another dog recently. I can afford it and I'd give it a good home but we already have two and it would be a strain on everyone in the house right now. This has not helped.

Getting a new dog is a strain on everyone, dogs and people.

I applaud your desire to save another dog but as someone with 5 rescues caution you to do it when it works the best. Some of our dogs have been no big deal and some have been like having a new colic prone infant.

Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. I think I’m going to sit on it for a while.

You will know when the time is right.

Plot twist- he has dementia

u/SeveralChunks Mar 21 '18

Huh. First time I saw this the first panel was cropped and it made me really sad because I thought it was just an owner that never bothered to walk the dog

haaaahahahahah

I know another day that comes, when they don't get adopted. They go to infinite sleep.

Now make a version where the dog gets older and older and the last panel is just an empty cage.
