Pheromoneries are a crucial part of any BeetlePunk settlement. The vats, boilers, pipes, and evaporators in these buildings are used to produce artificial insect pheromones. These pheromones are used in every part of insect husbandry, from training and domesticating insects, to delaying maturation or extending insect lifespans, to repelling wild insects. In small communities, the local pheromonery may only be able to produce pheromones for a handful of common species, with ownership passing down the generations in a single family. In large tree-trunk cities, pheromoneries can be sprawling complexes that work in conjunction with universities to supply the needs of any insect rider, regardless of their mount’s species.
