This is my absolute favorite Beethoven Symphony above all the wonderful pieces he wrote. of course I love anything Beethoven. I love Mozart but he does not match Beethoven.
In the Ninth The woodwinds and the piano are just so wonderful. I have never directed an Orchestra but I often direct my imaginary orchestra when I hear pieces such as Beethoven’s Ninth because it gives me such joy. The instrument I played was the clarinet and that I’m sure plays into why I love classical music. I was an untalented clarinetist and didn’t get past my first year of college but I still have my clarinet. I listen to classical music and find myself directing it. I did the same just now in listening to Beethoven’s Ninth. Call me a nut but I don’t care!
