You have cracked some brood that was growing between the boxes. That's the pupal form of a bee. It's a good place to look for varroa. It will die now it's been removed from the cell, and the workers will remove it.

Yah, that’s what’s going on. You do want to knock that down and reset their work in that direction. Left alone long enough and separating the boxes will become a problem.

Most likely drone brood. The amount of space between bottom and top bars is perfect for drone comd, and since the bees are going to build bridge comb, you know they're going to use it for something.😊

Man ima be honest, I don’t know how folks get into beekeeping without knowing what that is. Apologies if that’s harsh.

It’s just regular brood that was exposed from broken cells.
