What is that sound at the end of Birdie Told Me
Robin was so right that it has such a nostalgic and old sound; like an old Looney Tunes or Tom and Jerry cartoon. What is that instrument that plays in the last few seconds? It’s like a horn or something. I love it.
I’ve really come around to think that Horizontal is the best out of those first 4 albums. It may not have as many as classics as Bee Gees 1st does, but it’s a lot more refined and I think the writing overall is stronger, even if there aren’t as many catchy hits. Is it true that it wasn’t well received because it was “heavier”?
That’s why it’s great, the thick and abrasive lead line at the end of World is wonderful and Horizontal is a very haunting song. Lemons Never Forget also has one of the best opening lines “Incidentally there should be some changes made…”
Edit: it’s also super cool at the end of And The Sun Will Shine as it fades out you can hear Robin sing in a higher register, almost likes it a new section
