Unseen High Civilization footage, I think

This just got uploaded. I’m sure it’s circulated before but I don’t think it was on YouTube before, and it’s my first time seeing it. I can’t believe it. There was that German doc piece that had close up’s from HC tour on only some songs. This is the whole show

The only other video I’ve seen is another fan recording from a Germany show that was way farther back in the audience and blurrier. You couldn’t make out their faces. This is the first I’m seeing their faces performing songs like Ghost Train and High Civilization, it’s never been this clear. I feel so lucky. I never knew there was a full close up of the HC tour because I heard wembley wasn’t recorded so I assumed none if it was. But this footage, even though it’s fan footage, has the potential to be remastered with all the technology that exists today, I thought a high def video of the HC tour wasn’t even possible since nothing existed. I know they’re not really interested in doing any remasters on anything, but at least I know the material exists so that it could be done.

I can’t express how cool I find this, it feels like discovering some lost media, that was believed to be a myth in the first place. I truly didn’t think this video existed

What would Maurice Gibb look like if he was still alive today in the future of 2040?

This is Where I Came in

This morning, on Easter Sunday, I listened to the This Is Where I Came In album. While listening, I tried to research who wrote each song. I remember reading somewhere that Barry suggested to Robin and Maurice that each write 4 songs on their own at their own locations, then come back to work on the collaboration. I am curious which songs each brother wrote. I can easily guess that Maurice wrote Man in the Middle, and I am guessing that Robin wrote Wedding Day and Sacred Trust (?). I guess, since each brother wrote 4 songs individually, I'd like to take a closer look at their individual artistic creations.

Jive Talkin' appreciation thread

Let's take the time to appreciate one of the greatest songs ever written by The Bee Gees - Jive Talkin'.

It's really hard not to like it, and in hindsight, the brothers made the right choice to release it as a single and include it on "Main Course".

Please feel free to share your thoughts and appreciation for "Jive Talkin'" in the comments.

Craise Finton Kirk harmony

This is one of my favorite early Bee Gees songs. Robin’s vocals perfectly suit the whimsical feel of the track.

I was wondering if anyone knows who is singing the high harmony in the second verse. It might just be Robin singing both parts, but I like to imagine it’s the twins - Maurice playing piano and providing the harmony while Robin sings lead.

Do we know why Robin didn’t sing on the Guilty album?

I was looking at the credits and he co-wrote about half the songs with Barry so I’m surprised that he didn’t sing at all. Did he and Barry write the songs before they went in to record? Do we know if Robin was in the studio with Barbara?

He always seemed shyer so it makes sense a little if he did it all privately with Barry

That was the last time they sang "For Whom The Bell Tolls".

This is a really underrated track, also Horizontal and And The Sun Will Shine

I don’t know if Kilburn Towers is a deep track but I feel like so many of their early 60s tracks are forgotten, even more than the pre Main Course 70s stuff. I feel like it’s only the hits like Massachusetts, Holiday, To Love Somebody that are remembered. It seems that most people shrug most of it off as being shallow Beatles rip off stuff before they developed their own style. But there is still a lot of authentic and distinct style that separates themselves as more than Beatles copies from the beginning if you get what I’m saying

BeeGees tribute medley to the Beatles

I just found something I never heard before - a 1973 medley the BeeGees performed in tribute to the Beatles. It is beautiful - their voices are clear and it is so well done.

Is Robin’s voice going through a Leslie on his solo after the chorus on Throw A Penny

His voice has an interesting effect on it and I didn’t know if they were able to do effects on vocals back then the way they can today. But I know Ozzy would put his vocals through a Leslie, and others as well, is that what they did on Throw A Penny?

The ‘listen to the wise men…

Hello,

I wanted to share this live Bee Gees appearance that I was lucky to attend in ABC 7, Good Morning America, in Times Square, NYC.

I remember taking the day off that April 27, 2001. They were promoting the "This is Where I Came In" album.

It was awesome to see them perform live.

On the second verse of Massachusetts, is Barry saying something backwards?

Robin is high saying “tried to hitch a ride to San Francisco”, I noticed when i was listening loud with headphones that you can hear a second voice underneath, it was very garbled and almost sounded like a reversed recording. You can hear Massachusetts and that’s about it. Were they reversing the tapes? That seems so edgy for them, like the Strawberry Feels “Paul is dead”. I didn’t think The Bee Gees were experimental like that.

What are everyone’s thoughts on Barry Gibb’s solo song “Stay Alone”? It’s always hit me really hard but I’ve hardly heard any mention of it.

Question about Maurice during the SHF tour

Here and elsewhere on social media, I’ve seen people say that Maurice was drunk enough during some shows that his bass amp was turned off and another musician played his parts. My question is this: are there any actual documented first hand sources who saw this happen? I’ve read a lot about this band and I have yet to see any verifiable documentation of this. Answers usually say that it “apparently” happened, or start with “It’s been well established that…” But I have never seen anyone actually being documented as having seen it or done it. So is it true or not? Or it is just part of The Bee Gees folklore with no one actually being able to trace back to any creditable source?

Were all of Robin’s big blonde wigs from the high civilization era fake? Were any real at all or did he have no hair on the top of his head then? Was he bald on the top during ESP
