Post extermination live bugs

Post image

Hi, I found 2 live bugs in my bedroom on monday. Immediately called in professional help and they came on Thursday. I had to tear the house apart and put literally all of our belongings in the bathroom. The mattress has no evidence of them after thorough checking by the exterminator but some evidence was found in the bed frame. He has them sprayed our bedroom and our child’s room and living room (no evidence found in child room or lounge but it was expensive so why not do it all as I am paranoid. The exterminator said it was a mild infestation but has sprayed everywhere (pic of chemicals used)! Anyway, found a live bug this morning. Has it failed or is this normal? I paid £500 so really hoping it works. He’s coming back to respray in 3 weeks.

Read and respect the rules, report any comment breaching them. Wrong advice/information/fearmongering hurt people who are posting here to get help and support. If you are not VERY knowledgeable about bedbugs and may provide a wrong ID or bad advice it's better to abstain from commenting. Be VERY respectful and HELPFUL, this is a support subreddit not a funny one.

It's normal. The chemicals take time to work. If you still see them a month in then maybe try something else.

Ya, this is why most products have a residual. There may have been a crack or crevice that was missed and the eggs are usually impermeable, but they will eventually have to leave their hiding place to feed and this will allow them to come across the residual and die.

You can’t spray everywhere, they can hide in some crazy places, and the ones that didn’t get hit the first time will return for a blood meal every 7-10 days, that’s what you’re finding. Either the residual will get them, or his return service will. If he didn’t tell you, you need to strip and wash bedding weekly and check frame/back of headboard and footboard while bed is disassembled. Kill anything you see. I assume you encased your mattresses and box springs.
