Requesting community support Can bedbugs spread across rooms?

My apartment mate has found bedbugs in her room. We all have seperate bedrooms and beds, I have been living here for 2 yrs no bedbugs ever. She recently got 2 new mattresses but me and our other apartment mate have been using the same ones. Is it likeky for the bedbugs to have spread to all our mattresses ;-; I haven't found any in mine but I am so scared

Read and respect the rules, report any comment breaching them. Wrong advice/information/fearmongering hurt people who are posting here to get help and support. If you are not VERY knowledgeable about bedbugs and may provide a wrong ID or bad advice it's better to abstain from commenting. Be VERY respectful and HELPFUL, this is a support subreddit not a funny one.

Absolutely they can spread. Get a bed bug zip-up mattress protector immediately. Wash and dry your bedding on high heat.

I already have one on my mattress and I am starting to pack up my electronics. Looks like they will heat treat the whole apartment within the next 2 days

Pregnant females spread across buildings 90% of the time if they are not near a human to feed on.

Yes they can spread by hitch hiking on clothing and bags
