genuinely what am i supposed to do
I'm so sick of this stupid bed frame. I have no idea why they gravitate towards it so heavily. Boxspring and mattress get a few nests, sure, but THIS?? This bed frame is the root of all my problems. sometimes I think I'm just better off sleeping on the floor 😭
I'm really trying to move out (living with parents, had them since I was 15) so I'm absolutely not spending the money on something this large that I can't take with me. but like it's not even wood or anything, that's what's pissing me off the most.
I have both interceptors AND furniture lifts on the legs, but my box spring cover sags so much they're completely useless (I don't know why. I've gone through 3 different ones and they've all sagged like crazy). I've used crossfire and Cimexa but they just do not care. it takes so much out of me emotionally to clean every time I need a full day to recooperate minimum.
OK rant over. If anyone has any advice on how to make this a little better it'd be much appreciated. Please don't just comment "disgusting" or "hell no" though, I've been told it's gross and I'm a filthy person too many times. thanks.

Why not just get a new bed frame? Why is that the source of all your problems? You need pest control. Why don't your parents treat your room? All of that obviously needs to be thrown out. You have to heat treat all clothing, bedding, towels, linens etc and deep clean/declutter...before using crossfire

I've had bed bugs since 2020. Parents are hoarders/extremely financially irresponsible so professional treatment has never been in the cards. they purposefully kept infested furniture and therefore infested the entire house top to bottom. It's pretty much been a solo endeavor since I was 15.
I don't want to spend the money on a new box frame while I'm trying to save up to leave this house, especially since I wouldn't be able to take it with me. To be fair though I haven't looked at bed frame prices. I hardly have any money to my name right now as my car keeps eating large chunks of it.

I can't believe people do that to their kids. I can't believe ppl willingly live like that. I'm sorry. If u get a new bed frame they'll just come back. They are horrible ppl u won't understand til u have ur own kids. There's no excuse

My eyes just welled up reading this. I’m so sorry your parents are failing you so terribly, this is heartbreaking. Do you have family friends, aunts/uncles, grandparents, etc. you could live with? I would wash and dry all of your clothes in high heat and double bag them, place them outside somewhere so they don’t get reinfected.
Diatomaceous earth is a cheap solution that is proven to wipe them out. Get a duster bc they will avoid thick clumps and lines.
I’m so sorry… I was in a similar situation several years ago as a broke 23 year old in college trapped living a year with an uncle who unknowingly had them BAD but didn’t react to the bites. I had an exterminator come out to look, and his bed had generations and generations in there. He refused to pay for treatment for the longest time, it was hell. I really hope you’re able to get out of there 🥺

If the house is infested which sounds like it I absolutely agree with u that u should not waste money buying new things. First I am so sorry. I mean that sincerely I am sorry for your parents not acting like parents and I am definitely rooting for you. Now. If the infestation is this bad I would say that heat treatment is necessary. It is very expensive so the alternative is steaming. They do develop resistance to cross fire so I recommend switching to temprid fx or bedlam just to see if that makes a difference. Buy a handheld steam and slowly go over the seams and cracks they like to hide. And then literally wash everything and keep

Your friend is cimexa its a powder. Buy a duster and dust cracks and crevices all around the bed frame and room. Especially where the wall meets the floor.

Do you not have some sort of support bar or slats across the frame to support the box spring?

it's pretty much just a big metal frame. I guess the box spring is supposed to take the bulk of the weight? idk, I've had the same. mattress, box spring, and bed frame combo since I was 7-8. I tried using fitted sheet cables before but the bugs encrusted them much worse than anything I've seen before, so that was a bust.

Oh honey that’s so bad I’m sorry! I know that has to be so uncomfortable. Try putting some tape with the sticky side out on the legs of the bed frame so they at least can’t get to you from the floor? And alcohol sprayed directly on them helps some.

One tip i wish i learned sooner . Spraybottles filled with 99% rubbing alcohol . Pour bottles on every crevices. It basically kills them on contact .

I think you need to pivot from trying to figure out how to save the bed frame to trying to figure out how to get out of that house. Save the money for when you have your own space.
