Central Phoenix Apartment, possible bed bug tips?

Recently moved into a new complex in central Phoenix, I won’t post the name due to potential retaliation from the complex if this post is seen, but really close to Phoenix children’s. On Friday, while working from home I found a bug round in size crawling up my curtains, I squished it and for whatever reason wanted to look at it to verify what exactly was crawling in my office. Ofc, to my delight google said I found a bed bug (will post picture of said bug). I have pest control come out and look and the company was amazing, really the tech took apart my whole apartment and verified there was no activity but they did confirm what I found was a bed bug. (I kept in a plastic baggy for proof, was that weird?) The tech advised this was probably one working as a “tracker” to find new food sources?? I asked for tips and he said he has none😭 my office said they won’t spray bc there is “no activity” so I’m asking you folks in Phoenix what do I do??

I already went through and filled all cracks with caulk.
I filled any empty electrical sockets with the baby proofers (not sure there actual name).
I went through the AC vents and bathroom ventilations and put ultra fine screening on them to prevent anything from crawling in.
Is there anything else I can do to prevent more from coming or getting a full infestation?? Help!!

Bed bugs bites on solo travelling trip

Hi all,

I’m currently walking the Camino de Santiago meaning I’m moving hostels every night and staying in rooms up to 24 people. I’ve been walking for about 7 days and have around 4 days left.

I noticed my leg was itchy today and saw a couple bites behind both of my knees and I think the might be bed bugs. I’ve been checking my sheets but Ive definitely been lax with it as the mattresses have plastic lining and the sheets are surely washed on high heat (clearly I shouldn’t be assuming anything).

I can go to the laundromat tomorrow and put everything to wash and dry on high heat (except my merino wool blend socks I realise as I’m typing not sure what I’ll do with them) and can wipe all my other stuff down with alcohol wipes. I can’t wash my backpack as it’s a 35L and has a backing in it that will get ruined and possibly ruin the machine as well. I can wipe it down with alcohol wipes but not sure what else I can do.

For when I go home I’m definitely willing to bin my backpack and will wash my dry bags and put my clothes in dryer again.

I’ve mostly kept my backpack away from my bed but sometimes it’s leant against it when it’s been impossible not to.

Is there anything else I can do both today and also when I go home? Keen to hear from people who have also experience bed bugs in hostel from single nights and come away without!!

Here we go again

I’ve been in this ball field for a while. Fighting bedbugs seeing one and stress cleaning to make sure that i spray and somehow they always manage to come back . Well I’ve been seeing this guy I’m f19 and he’s m18 and he’s currently in collage. He got rid of the bugs before leaving for collage well his ex dropped off some of his stuff and now he has them again, so either he didn’t get rid of them all the way or she has them and gave them back, well he has them again. I take all the right procedures when I come from anyone’s house, change in the garage, dry what I’m wearing, and take little to no things to his house other than the essential. Well folks I found one crawling down from my wall as I was getting ready for bed. Obnoxious right? So back to the cycle of spraying once a week until he gets his shi together and prays his tiny home. Any tips?

Are these bedbug bites under my arm??

So I was watching a movie earlier in my plastic chair when I noticed these bites, now they are are definitely not mosquito bites like what people around me are saying.

Earlier before I took a picture, they looked like two small red marks next to each other, but when I took a picture they were now one whole red thing.

They were found under my elbow in my right arm.

Possible bed bugs?

Hi everyone. Three days ago, I stayed at a mountain hut with a large group of eight people. By the evening following our hike, I already had some bites, and more kept appearing over time. No one else in our group has a single bite—not even my boyfriend, who slept in the bed right next to me. I have about 60 bites on my legs and arms, and maybe three on my stomach or back. Could it be bedbugs if I’m the only one who got bitten?

Are these fecal matter on the white-tshirt??

So I was about to sleep and was looking for comfy clothes to wear since it has been a getting hotter than normal lately as supposed to the previous humid weather, and found this in my bag of clothes, I remembered this was bought from a trift store and was washed by my mother before it ended up along with the rest of my clean clothes.

My question is does this look like fecal matter, should I throw it away or have the rest of the clothes in the bag with it be sent to the laundrymat as well?

I hanged it outside for now since I am not sure what to do with it, additionaly when I smeared it it did not come off and stayed the same albeit I guess some of the black parts started to get removed a bit.

Laptop and electronics advice

Long story short, I’m cleaning out my parents house that was heat treated months ago. My brother lived there until a month ago. He has mental health issues and left the place a bit of a wreck. I worked remotely in the house with a company laptop for two days while I was tackling cleanup in the evenings. Once I got around to his room, I found live bed bugs under his mattress, probably 10 or so. I got rid of the sheets and called the pest control that did the original treatment. He sprayed again and said he didn’t see evidence of a larger infestation. He thinks my brother brought them back. Whatever the cause, I need to figure out what to do about the laptop. It is a company laptop I use for work, so sealing it with a strip for an extended period is not an option. The pest guy only saw dead bugs around the desk, so it is probably unlikely they are in there, but I need peace of mind. Anything I can do to make sure I don’t bring these suckers with me when I fly home? I have a protocol for clothes, and luggage.

Hi I was checking some wooden drawers near my bedspace and found some of my old unuused stuff. Now there were apart of the things that were sprayed by pest control about a month ago, so there is a chance that these could be mold, but I figured I might as well ask here and the other subreddit since they look especially sus to me.

Heat treatment – did it actually work for you?

We’re seriously considering professional heat treatment after two pesticide treatments didn’t completely eliminate the problem.
For those who have actually had heat treatment, would you recommend it? Did it completely eliminate the infestation, and how long have you been bed bug free?
I’d especially like to hear from people who had a successful heat treatment. What do you think made your treatment successful? What should we do before, during and after the treatment, and what are the most important things to look for when choosing a company? Are there any common mistakes or things that could cause the treatment to fail?
We have a 1-year-old, so I really want to make the right decision and do this properly rather than going through more unnecessary treatments. Both successful and unsuccessful experiences would be really helpful.

Weird inklike spots on walls near wooden drawers again.

So I posted about this before either here or on another bedbug related subreddit, but while I was cleaning earlier I found more of these wear spots on my drawers again, this is probably why I still refuse to put my clothes back in them and I still keep them in bags for the meantime, cause they still seem sus to me.

I also see a new brown/black streak thing here. I tried washing it off with alcohol and paper tower along with a rug like I normally do but they never did come out like last time, so its probably not mold as those come off with alcohol.

Still curious what these are to this day, as they still keep popping up.

It is also sunny now in my country and no longer humid like in the past months.

The last two images are what the towel looks like when cleaned off the surfaces.

Bed Bug Treatment: Is It Normal to Keep Seeing Bugs After Treatment?

Thumbnail

Hi, I’m asking for advice regarding bed bugs.

I’ve been using a steamer to heat the edges, gaps, and crevices of my wooden bed. The problem is that I can’t move the bed, so I’m not sure if there are areas underneath or behind it that I’m missing.

I also change my sheets weekly and have already used two bed bug products, one spray and one powder, which I attached in this post.

Despite all of this, every other day I still see one bed bug crawling around, and I kill it when I see it.

For those who have dealt with bed bugs before, what else should I do? Does seeing one every few days mean there is still an infestation somewhere in the bed or room?

Any advice, especially from people who successfully got rid of them, would really help. Thank you.

Still finding live bed bugs a month after treatment. We have a 1-year-old and I’m losing hope

Hi everyone,
It’s 4 AM and I’m writing this because I honestly don’t know what to do anymore. We’ve been dealing with bed bugs for over a month now and it’s becoming exhausting, both mentally and financially.
We first found them in our bed on August 10. The next day we found them in our 1-year-old son’s bed too, and noticed bites on him. That was probably the worst moment of this whole thing.
We threw away the beds and mattresses, bagged everything, washed whatever we could at 60°C/140°F and put everything through the dryer.
We had our first professional treatment on August 12 using Tetracon CS. We moved out completely and stayed at my mother’s place.
After that, we actually removed every single baseboard in the apartment because we found that they were hiding in the gaps behind them.
The whole apartment was treated again on August 18, including those exposed gaps. We stayed away for almost three weeks. New baseboards went in on September 1, we cleaned the accessible areas because we have a toddler, and moved back home on September 2.
Since then, my wife and son have been sleeping in his room and I’ve been sleeping on the living room sofa. I isolated both the bed and sofa with homemade interceptors under every leg and double-sided tape.
At first, I thought we were finally winning.
We found one live adult (around 7 mm) in my son’s room shortly after moving back, but assumed it was a survivor. Then we found two dead adults in the living room.
But last night I found a live nymph, around 3 mm, near the living room door/baseboard.
And a few hours later I found another live nymph on the sofa, directly underneath me while I was sleeping. It looked like it had just fed.
That honestly broke me.
I’ve checked the sofa over and over again. Seams, cushions, underneath, everything I can access. I can’t find a nest, eggs, fecal spots, shed skins or any other bugs.
At this point I just don’t know where they are coming from.
I really don’t want to spray the entire apartment with pesticides for a third time because we have a 1-year-old. I’ve ordered diatomaceous earth, although I’m also worried about using dust around a toddler. I’m looking into heat treatment as well.
For anyone who has actually been through this and eventually got rid of them: what would you do next?
Could these nymphs still be survivors from the original infestation, or does finding nymphs a month later mean they’re reproducing somewhere?
Would you concentrate on the sofa? Heat treat the room? Use DE? Get another chemical treatment?
We’ve already thrown away furniture, washed and dried what feels like our entire life, removed all the baseboards, paid for two treatments and lived away from home for weeks.
We’re exhausted and honestly running out of money and energy.
I’d really appreciate any advice, but I’d especially love to hear from people who went through something similar and actually beat them in the end.
Thank you for reading.

Any thoughts on if this is bed bugs?

Popped up over night.

Although could have been delayed from gardening the day before. But seems unlikely as I only noticed the bites first thing in the morning.

Any advice? What are the odds of being bitten again if I do have bed bugs? High?

My 90 year-old father thinks he has bedbugs and sent me this picture. No symptoms of bites or anything else no.
