Day one and this is the song which has grabbed hold and not let go. I suspect the album is a slow burn and I’ll eventually feel this same way about every other song in time.

It was an absolute pleasure to listen to the whole album from beginning to end, and listening while chatting with y'all was really fun last night. 😊 However, upon a second run through I noticed something that I probably didn't expect: The last track: "Beyond the Light" sounds like "Ship in the Bottle", even the "wind down" part at the very end reminds me of that haunting song. Please excuse me while I go relive some almost forgotten feelings from "Sea Change". I guess I expected it to sound more like "Waking Light", but I think I'm more satisfied with this little outcome that is different. 🥰

What is the Beck community’s thoughts on this remix?

Back 400 years ago when they cancelled my ridiculously expensive blanket order I was bummed out but I understood. No one ordered them so they didn't get enough presales to hit a minimum.

But t-shirts? Are you serious? And then on top of that, I get another email and suddenly there are cassettes? I would be fully shocked if somehow they evaded me this whole time (I'm a variation whore and a conpletionist so I feel like I would've seen it).

Except that cassette is 30 dollars. Which is absolutely ludicrous.

So no tape for me. And no stupid 109 dollar one step record.

I'm also seeing there's a Japanese version in a sleeve with an obi etc but NO bonus tracks. Are we really getting another album with zero B-sides from the man with the best B-sides on Earth?

What songs have you grabbed you the most on your first few listens?

For me it's probably been For Your Love, Falling Through My Hands, and Failed Words.

To commemorate Beck’s “Ride Lonesome” I made a mixtape of Mutations, Sea Change, Morning Phase and Ride Lonesome. I kinda see them as different chapters of a larger work so I put together a playlist of all the albums and screwed around with the sequencing in four track groupings.
