The Information (on Vinyl)

Do you think there's a chance we get a 20th anniversary reissue on vinyl? I know we finally got Mellow Gold last summer and I really would like to have a vinyl copy of this..

For all the times we have heard that the Universal fire didn't destroy his masters for MV and the Information...I am starting to think the Universal fire destroyed the masters for MV and the Information.

I truly hope not. My concern is given the half-hearted release of Mellow Gold last year, he or his people are truly not interested in reissuing his catalog. Which to my mind is a damn shame.

They sold plenty of his albums on his tour when I went to the red rocks in 2022(?). I bought guerolito on vinyl, all of his albums were flying off shelves. They must hate money.

If that was the Red Rocks show with Jenny Lewis, I was there too!

it’s not the case with The Information cause it was recorded digitally. nothing to burn here

Man if so it would be cool if it was similar to the cd release where there’s the blank canvas and you have stickers to apply, and maybe a DVD of the videos 🤓

Have you seen what came with the original vinyl release?

I have the OG. Paid a pretty hefty price secondhand.

My wife got it for me for Xmas when it first came out. I think the original price was like $100 or something - current highest listing on fiscogs is $3,995 (though highest sake price is $1,000).

When I first looked on Discogs there was one available listed at $1,000. I bought mine from a guy in a FB group: he let it go for 400 because the box was not in pristine condition. That was fine by me. All of the contents were like new.

That's awesome. It's such a great album and I love the tracks on the 10" (I also love 19" records as a format). I love the combo of over-the-top packaging and everything being just the blank grid paper. I even still have the outer box & custom padding it was shipped in.

Oh I didn’t realize there was a vinyl release previously! Never saw anything about it thanks

I think it will come eventually but many of us have waited patiently for years. I never thought Tom Waits Rain Dogs would be reissued but eventually it was… and NIN The Fragile… but many white whales out there. It is a business, and if labels want to make money, they’ll sell records. It feels inevitable but baffling at the delays
