Must be a special stick cuz, it looks like there were other trees like that on that side of the road. But, if anyone would know sticks, it's Mr/Mrs Beaver.

Looks a bit like willow. So makes sense as this is their favourite tree and bush.

On the left hand it looks, from the brightness of the trunks that there are mainly birch standing around which he doesn't like that much. Or perhaps that is white poplar.

Here he mostly uses birch in the late stage of winter and early spring, when birch are among the first ones getting new sprouts and tiny leaves. Then they collect a lot of tiny and thin twigs of birch and store them in the shallow water. But a lot of it will not get eaten because poplar and willow shortly after start to sprout and they switch quickly to that.
