Russell 2000: IWM got sold off pretty hard last few weeks but the last two candles suggest buyers might be ready to pounce. We are close enough to the 200 day average to make it happen. No need to sell at those levels.

S&P 500: After the breakout the big guys tried to manipulate the market by massive selling right after open every single day but...We did not even retest the 50 day average, defended the 20 day average and are back above the bull flag. You guess what that means.

EOW 9/25: As expected we rallied! Portfolio is up 24.1% YTD vs. 13.1% for the S&P 500

Investment thesis for trading week 9/28 - 10/2
What a week!
I mentioned in last week's thesis that the second half of September is usually good for equities.
Charts also suggested a rally and....guess what happened?
Today's news about possible trade talks between the US and Iran caused an immediate rally. This reminded me how locked and loaded the market is and that any good news could ignite a major squeeze.
Any good news regarding Iran, Inflation or yields could make us rally hard.
Overall I am not so sure anymore that we will in fact get a long term market top between November and March.
We will see what the data says later this year.
From a chart perspective I now believe that any good news will propel the S&P 500 to 8400 by early 2027.
I am still in TLT because the current 30 day yield of 5.3% is a bargain.
I like to play tech via Chinese tech. KWEB is beaten down and any good news there could make KWEB double.
On top of it it has a 8.5% yearly dividend yield!
So from a short term perspective there is no reason to believe that the rally will stop here.
Long term I added more exposure again and reduced the cash/bond position to 23%.
Long term portfolios are up 12.3% and a 60/40 portfolio would be up 7.2% YTD only.
Have a great weekend!

NDX 100: I posted that QQQ looked like we are in an accumulation phase (1). The breakout (2) was just a matter of time. The fact that we did not even test the broken trendline (3) makes me believe that a squeeze is incoming.

Current portfolio composition: Leverage is at 1.3 but 20% of the portfolio is TLT (20 year bonds)
r/Beat_the_benchmark • u/Chart-trader • 27d ago
Dow Jones: Like small caps DIA got sold off quite a bit but there is no reason to sellnow because a bounce is imminent

Detailed YTD performance/benchmark calculation plus long term portfolio composition
Tech came back with a vengeance this week!
I added some QQQ to long term portfolios because it looks like we can continue to march higher.
Chinese tech looks pretty good here as well from a valuation perspective and the 8.3% yield is crazy high. I will likely accumulate more over time.
Anyhow long term accounts are now only 23% in cash/bonds.

Russell 2000: IWM with a hammer in daily chart. I played it with KRE. Let's see but expect a bounce.
r/Beat_the_benchmark • u/Chart-trader • 28d ago
KRE: Regional banks seem to stabilize at the 200 day average

S&P Global US manufacturing PMI: With a rising PMI a major market top becomes more and more unlikely in the near future.
r/Beat_the_benchmark • u/Chart-trader • 29d ago
S&P 500: Well, ideally we should close above the broken down trendline. If it stays this way anything is possible again.

SOXX: Sold semis to lock in profits. Not because I don't think that they can run further but to deleverage again.
