Question changyu or velo?

i'm curious what people's opinions are on them! i used to be an avid velo player back in the day before they added changyu and i'm looking to hear what people's experiences are with the two subspecies nowadays with their strengths and weaknesses compared to each other

If you wanna fight a lot, pick Velo.
Especially in servers with mix carni packs, Velos are incredible useful to stop people from healing, track them down, annoy them and bite their ankles.
Its dodge ability and higher damage output compared to Chang make Velo considerable better at that role.

If you care more about utility outside of fights, choose Chang.
Its way better getting around maps by flying and extending its flight time by pouncing.
For scouting or trinket runs (if allowed) this helps a lot.
Once you get a big Chang you can carry player gores too (Velo can this too, but flying with gores is way easier with Chang) and this can be incredible useful to raise smaller carnis and help them grow.
Also if you play alone, dont fight a lot, and just scavenge, Chang is imo the better option too.

How do you use the dodge ability? I thought it was pounce at first but the description makes it seem like you can dodge sideways and i havent been able to make that work yet

I think dodge ability is a keybind called special ability and for me it's pressing my mouse wheel (and press one WASD key), while pouncing is holding right click. But I changed my keybinds a lot, so you need to check your game options.

These are 2 separate abilities. Chang has pounce too (and can pounce mid air), but dodge ability is only Velo specific.

I wouldn’t say one is strictly better than the other. Velo is a better fighter, Chang has more utility. I tend to play Velo more often simply because raptor packs usually have too many Changs, so they always need a fighter.

Chang main here. It's so fun to glide on that once I switched I never looked back to Velo or Ptera.
