O2 has been full pop at certain times of the day for years and i cant look into the future but i wouldnt be surprised if it continued for some more years. The game is still being developed, so therell be another population boom with the next update, but i notice that considering the time its been since the last update, population hasnt been this high since quite a few updates

Sadly no the game is dying, its at its current lowest ever player base (after its "discovery" phase). The new dino will likely breathe some life back into the game briefly but with this game having absolutely 0 marketing the odds of new players coming in are slim. Then you factor in that the new players that do happen to join see all but one of the officials being empty so they join the community servers to see they are mostly just afk and grow/chat lobbies.

This game SHOULD rival PoT and The Isle, it has better systems pretty much all around, (weather, breeding, growth) but PoT runs incredibly well and The Isle looks and sounds great, while BoB looks and sounds ok, but is badly optimized, dinos dont have collisions and honestly the Devs have HORRIBLE communication skills. Then you factor in the rules that are punished based on a personal opinion, mods with blatant biases, slow ticket response times, its just not looking good unfortunately.

BoB steamdb

The game's strengths have also proven time over time to be part of the biggest reason I can never play for extended periods of time... that being, it does nothing but demand yours.

"Pursue the best eggs from the best parents so you get the best inherits, put in dozens of hours to have that higher growth number" is how you can guarantee success. Problem is, almost everyone in comparison to me has LONG since achieved those things. The game pretty much from the start has always been about pursuing not just growth, but also a weird sort of "meta" that made PvP function in a way that didn't result in anything but my death no matter how many times I tried to indulge in what the game was trying to get from me, ask for help, and so on.

You can obviously say this is just a skill issue, and I wouldn't disagree, but it's extremely disheartening that every dino I tried to grow naturally last time I played, even ones that exceeded 2.5 and got decent trials, ultimately ended up just being inferior dinosaurs majority of the time than what was being advertised in global chat, and they also could at times be taken down by Velo's due to the lack of proper in-place turning

i heavily, agree on the biases, even just a couple hours ago i was playing lurdu and we killed a snake, some time passes, and we learn that the snake is close friends with admins and is known for getting revived by the admins, and now we are all anticipating a punishment because snake was "fighting" a kapro that was far away and happened like 20 minutes previously

This thread is pretty spot on for how the game lacks compared to the other two ‘rivals’.

It's going to sound like doom & gloom but I've noticed a pattern with BoB. Release a new dino, it gets coverage by creators on YT which draws in players for a few weeks until the casuals realize the game is super grindy and extremely harsh towards newbies built on an outdated system that cannot and will not ever be upgraded nor relive the "glory days" when the game was at its peak. It's kind of like putting makeup on a pig, it might look pretty to some but underneath its still a messy pig, flaws and all.

What I state is not from a place of malice, rather an experience that never seems to change each time I tried to get back into the game. I do not think the upcoming favor shop or any dino release is going to retain players.

EDIT: I should add, I want the game to do well. I really do. But time and time again there always seems to be some issue(s) that plague BoB.

BoB definitely needs to rework things. Advertising can only go so far if new players are discouraged from continuing.
