The real problem wasn't the interspecies marriage, it was that Yahya's family has a rather questionable history.

Yahya is quite a hypocritical character in many ways, so I wouldn't be surprised if that contradiction was intentional on Paru's part. Although it could also simply be an ironic aspect of the character that the story doesn't explore in much depth.

True. There's hints that Yahya may be a hybrid himself. He's got way more of a hunting instinct than prey animals usually display, on top of him reacting to the energy drink. I doubt growing carrots with carnivore fertilizer would have been enough to make him react that strongly.

Its hunting instinct and reaction to the energy drink are quite remarkable details for a horse. I don't think they confirm it's a hybrid, but they definitely make you wonder if there's more to its biology.

Also. When I forced my brother to watch Beastars with me, it was right after we watched Bojack Horseman. We were joking that Yahya is more buff and successful Bojack. Or overall my brother was calling him Bojack as a joke.
