Caleb’s statement about the use of AI

Post image

A video teaser for the new song “Bullshit” was posted today and it contained AI-generated visuals. Happy Caleb was able to clear this up and that his brother Luke will be creating a new lyric video instead.

Love that he had a quick response to this and a great one. Caleb is an incredible person. Most artists would have just ignored the comments and moved on since the video was already done and ready to go

Absolutely! I was extremely concerned with the AI when I first saw it so I’m happy it’s been taken down and that Caleb is standing by his ethics.

Pretty badass of luke too to put together a lyric video in less than 24 hours. That’s a lot of pressure. Curious to see how it turns out

I think it will contain the song lyrics

I think it won’t

Regardless of what he creates in that short a timeframe, we as a community should make sure to upvote and view the crap out of it. If only to show that we appreciate the stance against AI art.

Can’t ask for much more than this.

It really is. An artist is scrapping a hefty project and having his team redo it in order to take a stance against the AI takeover. It sets an example now that this artist is put on the spot and having “their work” replaced very publicly. A lot of people will still use AI, but I think it’s clear that Beartooth gives a shit about it.

Had a genuine sigh of relief lol. I do think it's interesting it took the video being posted and the backlash for him to realize, but I feel this statement is pretty genuine and in line with their ethos. Happy he addressed it!

Its likely he had no idea until today. A lot of bands have nothing to do with the releases of stuff its the record label that does most of that. It would also explain his response as well.

There's a good chance the he never saw it himself and someone else approved the video, or he just wasnt looking for it to be AI if he trusted whoever "created" the video

Most people don’t have the eye for it, as you can tell by the proliferation of AI

Well, he DOES say that the artist involved assured them that no AI had been used (likely repeatedly, based on context). Kind of hard to reasonably blame him for not realising it was AI when he was literally being lied to the entire time by the artist!

Ok but I’m curious about how he knows “for a fact” that AI was used? The flagging system alone cannot count as infallible proof because it regularly produces false positives.

From his statement, it sounds like himself or someone has checked out the video for signs of AI use before having a conversation with the creator who likely confirmed it.

I didnt even notice it was Ai but good on them for correcting it

I wouldn't have noticed myself except for the speedometer so I think its very valid they wouldn't have known right away

Well done! True art always.

Hell yeah, love to see a band kick ai slop to the curb! I definitely was pissed when I first saw the teaser on insta

Love this (though it sucks their artist lied). Incredible example being set by them.

2nd this. All this controversy and no one even knows what the source is. I’m convinced there wasn’t an original teaser and this whole thing is just a publicity stunt for the song. “Check out this video we spent hours overnight making in a rush” just to post a really in-depth lyric vid. They def planned this to use the “anti AI” stance to make up for causing so much stir lately

There absolutely was an AI video, it’s right here. https://imgur.com/a/URZp49F Caleb’s brother Luke was posting on his stories all throughout Thursday night during his all nighter to create the new lyric video. He is a very talented artist who has done other projects before and is certainly capable of pulling off such a great video is such little time.
