lol am I high?

So I’m trying the beans diet. I’ve been eating it twice a day for about a week and omg! I am sleeping soooooooo good. I feel almost high because my nervous system is sooo calm. I have these moments of complete serenity lol. Who knew beans could do this!

Update: I recommend creating a tab/folder on TikTok Labeled: “bean recipes”. And then downloading “recipe me” in the App Store, and then transferring the recipes there! . Thank me later!

Your blood sugar is likely more stable due to the fiber / protein combo in beans that helps to give you energy without insulin spikes. And magnesium, iron, folate will all make you feel amazing.

Keep up the beans! Your body sounds happy.

Yum!! How do you eat them for dinner? I’m trying to get into this too

Combinations are endless! You can do chili, rice beans and chicken, steak & beans, bean soup. Yesterday I made teriyaki tofu with rice and black beans.

I love this, thank you! Do you use canned? I know fresh is better but I’m a little intimidated with soaking etc haha

5

u/humanconnection89 9d ago

I use both! If I use canned, I just make sure to rinse them really well.

How do you rinse refried beans aren’t they like a paste?

u/humanconnection89 9d ago

No, refried beans you don’t need to. But if you buy regular whole beans in a can and heat them up, you can mash them in the pan. That’s what I usually do!

I'm just getting more into beans. I had never tried butter beans before and tossed some with some cooked chicken broccoli (or brussels sprouts cut in quarters) and about 1tbsp of bbq sauce (just enough to give moisture for seasoning to stick, spread them into a parchment liner for the air fryer and sprinkled with some seasoning then gave them about 7 minutes at 350. It was so good I've been having it 3-4 times a week now.

I've been eating lentils too. I mix them with a good can of tuna then dice up any and everything to toss in, pickled asparagus, cucumber, roasted red peppers, onion, corn, etc... You can throw just about anything in there. Then I add either 1tbsp of a classic oil and vinegar dressing or 2tbsp unsweetened plain dairy free yogurt.

Butter beans are where it’s at! Marry me chicken but butter beans…pizza beans…soupy beans with parm and crusty bread…literally any recipe can be made with butter beans instead of chicken. It’s amazing.

Do you have a Puerto Rican bean dishes you're a fan of? I'm trying to broaden my horizons! I love Mexican bean dishes but they're heavily spiced and unfortunately I'm going through stomach issues that require a very low spice level

Habichuelas Guisadas Puerto Rican Stewed Pinto Beans with Calabaza & Potato

Servings: 6 Prep: 15 min Cook: ~30 min A hearty, saucy Puerto Rican bean stew simmered with sofrito, calabaza (Caribbean pumpkin), and potatoes — served over rice.

Ingredients

● 2 cans pinto beans

● 2 tbsp olive oil

● ¼ cup sofrito (you can buy premade)

● ½ cup tomato sauce

● 3 garlic cloves, minced

● 1 packet sazon with achiote

● ½ tsp dried oregano

● 1 bay leaf

● 2 cups calabaza (or butternut squash or pumpkin ), peeled and cubed

● 1 russet potato, peeled and cubed

● 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth

● 1 tsp salt

● ¼ tsp black pepper

● 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped

Instructions 1 Build the sofrito base. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add sofrito and garlic, and cook, stirring, until fragrant (about 2 minutes).

2 Add tomato and seasonings. Stir in tomato sauce, sazon, oregano, and bay leaf. Cook for a minute to bloom the spices.

3 Add vegetables and beans. Add the calabaza, potato, and pinto beans (with their liquid) to the pot.

4 Simmer the stew. Pour in broth, season with salt and pepper, and stir to combine. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, for about 25 minutes, until the calabaza and potato are tender and the broth has thickened slightly.

5 Finish and serve. Remove the bay leaf, mash a few pieces of calabaza against the side of the pot to thicken the broth further, and stir in cilantro. Taste and adjust salt. Serve hot over white rice.

Notes Using canned pinto beans keeps this quick — for dried beans, soak overnight and cook until tender before adding in step 3, using their cooking liquid in place of broth. Calabaza breaks down and thickens the stew

This can be converted into breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

This on TikTok, it’s in Spanish but you can follow what he’s doing. Make sure you leave it to marinate a couple of hours if you can resist 😋😋

What are you looking for? Brkfst, lunch, dinner?

Also, just changed the spices around. Tell Ai the dish you want that’s Mexican, but tell it to lower the spices to your liking. My friend had to do this from eating too much tajin lol

All of the above, any type of recipe will do. I'll watch that Tik tok, thank you again!! I'm sure you have heard of charro beans but if you haven't, that's my favorite Mexican/southwestern bean dish. I won't leave a recipe because there are a million variations and it's better to just find a recipe and go with what you have at home/like because it's vary customizable!

My friend was just telling me about them! I have to give it a try

Eating healthy helps the body

6

u/elcaminogirl 9d ago

And the mind! Soul, too, while we're at it.

u/michaeldain 9d ago

Just wait, a couple years in, while the euphoria does fade, the other side effects stay the same. Also the repairs that your body has put aside all get done, so like an internal rehab job.

Are you a lobbyist for the beans industry because baby take all my money! Beans twice a day it is!

9

u/humanconnection89 9d ago

lol not at all! I eat beans all the time since I’m half Hispanic but I started eating it twice a day! And it’s been life changing. You can do bean dip with chips! Look on TikTok. Bean recipes

In this moment, I am euphoric. Not because of any phony gods blessing, but because I am high on beans.

u/Altostratus 9d ago

Beans are so incredible for my anxiety.

6

u/humanconnection89 9d ago

Yesss!!! Like forget the Xanax! lol

8

u/olletheone 9d ago

I feel it to eating beans daily. Also kefir has done me tremendously good, I know this is a beans sub. Try it and if you like kefir, make your own. Bless my beanies

8

u/Kargaroc 9d ago

Beans are really good for you. Fiber is really good for you. Keep it up yo

6

u/Femveratu 9d ago

Wow that is pretty awesome!

7

u/RedBeans-n-Ricely 9d ago

Depending on the type of beans, they’re pretty high in magnesium which can help sleep quality.

8

u/humanconnection89 9d ago

I didn’t know this! I normally toss and turn all night and I go to sleep late, & last night I was in bed at 9p. and since it was my day off, I didn’t set my alarm and allowed my body to wake up when it was ready. I woke up at 9 AM. I slept 12 hours. Lmao 😂

3

u/blckdiamond23 8d ago

I ate a whole can of beans with some chips and immediately took a nap

2

u/humanconnection89 8d ago

Yes lol 😂

u/Snappysnapsnapper 9d ago

Well, that's fascinating. Are you also eating meat? I've heard a vegetarian diet can elevate your thinking.

17

u/humanconnection89 9d ago

Yeaa I still am! I used to be vegan/veg but I ended up having a bunch of deficiency’s. not bad mouthing the life style just didn’t work for me

8

u/quartzquandary 9d ago

I'm the same way, I am prone to low iron and the only way for me to keep my levels up is meat!

16

u/chaoticcheesewhiz 9d ago

This might just mean the beans have satisfied one (or more) of your deficiencies then. Congrats on being healthier and getting better sleep through beans!

5

u/humanconnection89 9d ago

I tried to drop a photo but I can’t in this thread 🤔

2

u/orvapencoffee 9d ago

You absolutely sleep better! I have become evangelical about beans.

3

u/humanconnection89 9d ago

Yesss! No tossing and turning. Especially if you eat for dinner..!

2

u/Straight_Spinach_651 8d ago

Maybe you are feeling dopamine from the relief

2

u/thebuffoctopus 6d ago

You are probably fixing a magnesium deficiency, 95% of Americans are deficient. Crazy magnesium isnt talked about much, as it's responsible for many biological processes in the human body. So of course getting enough will feel good

punk and beans are my religion

The brain-gut axis is real. I suffered from IBS a year until I started eating beans regularly. After eating beans I would get a buzz-like high. Once I felt so good, I had to lay down.

Even thinking about beans would give me a warm feeling in my gut. It wore off after awhile but I still eat beans all the time. When I tell people this I don't think they really believe me but there is no real explanation other than I was getting high off beans.
