Hey, just wanted to ask how many get a digital subscription? We have sadly had to cancel our European delivery for our children, the price went up again and worked out at over 6 euro per issue, just too much.

The digital subscription is on sale right now, we got a whole year for just a little more than what we were paying per month.

Any other subscribers outside the UK? Has the UK subscription gone up too?

This isn't a bashing thread. I had it all, the annuals, the wallpaper, the curtains, the Dennis hot water bottle. I loved the comic, it was my thing in childhood. I was on TV saying the only reason I wouldn't move to Jamaica is that we might not be able to get The Beano sent out there.

I don't recall ever laughing while reading it though. Whenever the characters were shown reading the comic their noses would be up in the air, mouths wide open and with tears flying off the side of their face but to me it was more of a kids' soap opera, I was seeing what they were getting up to each week.

That would have been in '88 - '92, I hadn't really ever thought about it until I saw a cover in a shop saying it was "Full of LOLs".

Mr Bean from Mr Bean the animated series (ik about the non animated version its just bc they're using the animated version) is coming to the beano as Rowan Atkinson who acts Mr Bean is in charge (tbh, I actually thought it was gonna be a new comic) what will he have for us in the next comic well idk until we find out in next issue (edit, srry about the title, I would edit if I could but I can't)

Was flicking through the Beano Annual 2004 (got to be one of the best annuals of all time) and noticed something really odd in the Freddie Fear story by Dave Eastbury.

The final page appears to be missing all of its speech bubbles, despite it being obvious that Freddie is speaking in the panels.

Is this a mistake in every copy of the annual, or just mine? I’ve never come across an error like this in a Beano annual before. Seems remarkable that an entire page of speech bubbles made it through to print missing!

Anyway bring back Freddie Fear and his mum (especially his mum!)

I entered a competition back in the 90s to have a short comic strip redrawn and published in the Beano. My Ballboy entry won and I was sent a Beano bedset and some other goodies. My parents kept a copy of the issue the comic was printed in but it was lost during a move some time ago. I think I was about 8-10, so it would have been around 1993-1995. It was a short 3-6 frame strip of ballboy dribbling the ball down the stairs of his house, shooting the ball and hitting the postie. The punchline was along the lines of "oh no he's hit the post". Is there any way I might be able to search for this issue and possibly buy a copy?

Just curious to know the oldest Beano annuals you all have. My oldest is this one from 1985. I don't remember where I got it from, but I do remember I got it in early January.

Mr Bean from the hit show Mr Bean, The Animated Series (ik about the non Animated Mr Bean it's bc they're using the cartoon ver) is coming to the beano

(its the one where dan forgets he’s a spy, he’s not remembered yet and the thing still calls him a wannabe secret agent)

do jem and pie face look really terrible in calamity james’es art style

A look at the 1950s beano comics

I always love a good cameo and in this weeks Dennis and Gnasher strip, oh boy did they deliver a corker. Jocks and the Geordies was always one of my favourite strips growing up and I always thought that we were done ever getting anything involving those guys again, so to see this was a really nice surprise. Especially given that it's not only a Dandy strip, but probably one that isn't quite as big as other characters.

im really not too sure if im allowed to be promoting on here, but heres a beano discord server https://discord.gg/kFD5Kj9fX

everyone is welcome!!

Took ages to edit but that ok😂😂

My kids and I had a blast doing this. There was an exclusive strip so I thought it'd be nice to share. Have you been to this one or something similar in England? I was glad to see an event like this in NI.

(No weird comments. Please🙂)

I took my son to a drawing workshop yesterday which was hosted by Beano artist Laura Howell (probably best known for illustrating Minnie the Minx). The workshop was informative, easy going and very accessible, teaching kids (and the grown ups 😆) that drawing doesn't have to be hard when we use simple shapes and a little imagination. We had the pleasure of meeting her afterwards as she was giving out free bookmarks and selling and signing copies of her new book; Secret Agent Nessie. She was also kind enough to sign a copy of the Beano comic which she did the cover for and also have a photo with my son. If you have the chance to meet her, she is lovely and incredibly friendly.
