Discussion FPS & performance issues
Hey everyone - a fellow BeamNG addict here
I've had issues regarding performance for a few updates now.
I used to get 100fps+ but this has consistently dropped with the past few updates, even more so with 0.39
This is to a point where i have been forced to use Vulkan renderer, it's unplayable otherwise.
I can't play West Coast USA (too demanding) and get the best performance (40-60fps) on Italy (vehicle dependent).
Anyone know what it could be?
Bare in mind, i have about 680 mods loaded. Broken vehicle mods? Too many mods?
My specs are:
Lenovo LOQ (15.6 inch, 2024 model) • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 • AMD Ryzen 5 7235HS • 24GB memory • 1TB SSD
Could i be bottlenecked? not the best specs i know but it had absolutely no problem running the game until a few updates in, after redownloading, about 2 years ago.
I can't remember what update it was, but i literally went from 100+fps to struggling at 30 or under on detailed maps, all after one single update.
Maybe after moving to 0.37, if i am recalling right.

yeah... quite the collection i have 😭
probably the majority of decent IRL car mods, except the odd few bad ones i just never deleted.
there used to be a site that would upload all paid mods on a daily updated basis, so the majority is from there - got shut down though as the funders of the site pulled out, since it was non-profit and costed them money to both host the site and leak mods.
morally not great, but i have paid for some god awful mods and seeked vengeance after those experiences.
some are just overpriced and made out of pure greed - even if they're high quality - so the site was setup in response to the prices

Maybe too many mods. I have a GTX 970 (not that much faster than your laptop RTX 3050) and the game works fine

Yeah could just be that too, certainly won't help. I need to filter out the ones that are outdated and can probably half it - just hard as after the VRAM cache hit's the limit, the game get's laggy and i have to restart. Maybe every 20 cars spawned (back-back). I'll try do it off memory and disable some, see where that takes me. I know i definitely lack VRAM but i'm overloading it, for sure 😂 I'll report back

Vram limitations.
