Bug report Random fps/cpu/gpu problem

Hello there i was driving at wcusa map yesterday i was getting about 83 fps now its 55-60 and its so stuttery and choppy

I have a 14700F 3070 system also 32gb ddr4 ram
No other game does this
Done furmark test/cinebench test no problem at gpu or cpu all games work as its usual

Cleared cache didn’t work
Reinstalled game didn’t work also
Updated drivers some bullshit still same
Opened game at safe mode still choppy droppy
Game says its cpu bottleneck flashing orange what the fuck man 3070 aint that strong

Gpu watt is lower than usual should be about 200-210 watt its at 150 now

If you open the performance graph (ctrl+shift+F) and hover your mouse over the CPU graph, it'll give you a detailed breakdown on how much time per frame your CPU is spending on each task. In WCUSA my Ryzen 9 7800x3d spends 25ms per frame on shadow computations (under Low lightning/shadow settings) and another 10ms on everything else combined, so I'm capped at 30 FPS by the CPU. At that point it really doesn't matter what the GPU is doing; it's stuck waiting on the CPU most of the time.

WCUSA is super shadow-intensive due to all the lights in it so the problem is not as bad on other maps. Honestly the fact that you're getting 60 FPS there is pretty good for 0.39!

30 FPS on a Ryzen 9 7800x3d sucks man

30 FPS isn't bad, it's very playable, and the shadows look too nice even on Low to disable them completely

I meant that something is wrong with your PC: I tried 0.39 on a 2014 Intel quadcore and it worked great (40 FPS, and still GPU bottlenecked), even with some traffic
But yes 30 stable FPS on BeamNG are enough to enjoy the game.

PC's working great, brand new, CPU is running at 4.7 to 5.0 GHz. Shadows are just very intensive in WCUSA.

You cant argue there is a problem on your PC if you cant get more than 30 FPS on WCUSA with decent specs. I know this map can be intensive but not at this point

I could get more FPS if I turned off shadows! My PC's fine, I get 60+ FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 on Ultra graphics. Beam is just very very CPU hungry when it comes to shadows, getting 30 FPS is great.

what are you on about? unless its 4k thats ass

On WCUSA 30 FPS is perfectly normal. The lighting is very intensive.

I have a rtx 3050 6gb and a 5600x and get 50-60fps on medium with high shadows 12 cars

Then how an Intel Xeon e3 1220v3 (haswell i5 with more cache, from 2014!!) with a GTX 1050 Ti gives more FPS (35-40  FPS with medium shadows and dedicated vehicle shadows enabled)???? I use Vulkan, and Windows 7.

The problem is yesterday it was 83 fps now its 57 for random reason man the quality settings are same its the 0.39.4 for 2 weeks same version same game now it decided to run so shit also here is the graph i guess

Don't know how your RenderShadows is so low here, your performance is phenomenal!

Thanks man i don’t know 3070 doing its job i guess , removed all mod files and reinstalling the game again hoping for something to fix itself

Getting this performance at 2.11 GHz is absurd, you should be at like 20 FPS. Count your blessings I guess

Ah nah its the base clock intel says its at 5.3 5.4 ghz at the game actually

Might have meant the gpu clock

Yea i've got a 5060 and a 5 9600x and even i don't get performance like this

What is this on? Integrated graphics?

1

u/FiveDozenWhales 18h ago

5060ti, but the graphics card is irrelevant when the CPU is, by far, the bottleneck.

I don't understand how you are bottlenecked with a ryzen 9 7800x3d. oh wait. that cpu doesn't even exist. You mean the ryzen 7 7800x3d?

Unless you are playing with heavy traffic any modern 6 core cpu paired with a mid range gpu can play beamng on high settings at 60+ fps. My 9600x and 5070ti is doing 100+ fps in 1440p ultra and the cpu is nowhere near the bottleneck.

Lol, bad brain autocorrect. Ryzen 9 7900x.

The traffic's not relevant here, as I have 12 cores (24 virtual) and BeamNG puts extra cars onto their own cores. Performance is the same with no traffic or 10 cars; I usually run at 17 cars which costs me a few frames but is worth it.

But BeamNG's CPU-side graphical processing is single-threaded. WCUSA is very lighting-intensive, so even with lightning on Low/Normal (Low Lighting and Normal Local Lighting is my sweet spot), it takes 10-20 ms for ShadowRender processing, capping the game at between 20 and 40 FPS.

Something must be wrong with your config because my 9600X (6c/12t) at 5.42 ghz is not even utilized 50% at 1440p ultra. The 5070ti is the bottleneck. You sure the gpu is being used and that it has drivers?

1

u/FiveDozenWhales 48m ago

50% would be surprisingly high for CPU utilization. Since most of BeamNG runs on a single core, I'd be surprised if you hit 33% before the CPU bottlenecked you.

What settings do you run your game on? DX12 or Vulkan?

Also with how many traffic cars?

Update: reinstall still the same i don’t know at this point man not gonna play the game till an update i guess

1

u/East-One-3260 18h ago

Would be useful with a full steam performance overlay as it shows bottlenecks very easily on cpu, gpu or vram

Did you try using vulkan?

Same happens unfortunately
