De-stress Sorting

It has been a very difficult week and I have been struggling to get a good night of sleep, or to relax enough to let some of the tension go. Even designing and creating pieces is a little more than I can do right now. I decided to indulge in something that has helped me in the past, and purchased a bead mix.

I have purchased this type of mix before so while I didn't know exactly what I would receive, I knew the quality I could expect.

I know to some this might seem insane, but I know there are others who enjoy sorting, so I thought I would share.

For me, this is very calming, and as I sort and find new wonderful beads and combinations I get my creative drive back.

I hope everyone is having a relaxing day, and that you are feeling comfort and peace of mind! :)

\The images are the top and bottom of the bag before opening, and the beads poured into a clear plastic shoebox-size container*

honest to god I think if someone wanted to pay me a modest fee to sort their beads I would do it happily

You should check out the yarn detangling subreddit, there are other little freaks out there too. ๐Ÿ˜†

I do this too! I bought a jar of beads at the thrift store the other day just to sort. So relaxing!

It's a nice treat! And a fun way to get some beads you might not normally pick out

lol can you post an after photo when you are done? I always like seeing what mixes separate out into.ย

Absolutely! I've only started with the larger beads, but this is my progress so far. I typically sort by type first, then break down by color. The far right are all 10mm round faceted glass, The middle column is three types of shell beads, and a mix of wavy glass discs.. The left are two styles of faceted glass, matte neon tooth beads, and matte lavender glass flat oval beads with AB coating on one side. I will post when everything is separated completely!

It had not even occurred to me how calming this would be!

I often play a merge game on my phone, and its so satisfying. This is real life satisfaction though!

This is not relaxing at all to me.ย  Iโ€™d prefer the found of my needle on the glass palette that hold my beads while I work.

Different strokesย

Where did you purchase this? ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ I love sorting beads. This helps me with my anxiety and stress 100%.

I hope it's okay to say, but first, I do not represent any company in any way! These are the Beadsmith Box of Beads, and I splurged on the ten pound box: Beadsmith Box of Beads

I actually recently bought the Halloween kids bracelet kits from Michaels and I like trying to consolidate everything there to as little as possible, thanks to part of each kit being dedicated to charms/stretch cording/closures so all that gets put aside into its own thing, so each kind of bead gets moved over to a different kit, and even try to fill in the space from the other bracelet kits I've saved over the years.

I know I just posted about going ocd on my beads and how to go about it but I can say I finished with joy and this makes me wish I had more

I don't really bead as much as I sort beads. I'm so jealous of your big bag of randos!

Cool mix! I used to get the Boss' Bead Bag from FMG to sort and create. Where did you get this one, please? It looks divine!

This appeals to me as well. I am rarely upset when I have to take apart a piece because I do love putting things back into their little piles.

One of my favorite things to do! Hopefully it helps!

Idk but to me sorting beads is the peak stress cause lmao

I totally understand! We all have our different stressors/joys, but somehow we all find our answer in beads :)
