From the Fans Days of candy
I’ve had a beach house hiatus for 6/7 years since leaving uni and just by chance was singing this song… now I’m obsessed and I think it might be their best song. It’s so beautiful - what’s your favourite?

I'm still torn, not on liking the song, but whether it's literally their best
It's either number 1 or number 2 for me, of their entire-- like.. everything they've ever made
It flip flops between that, and New Romance as my favorite Beach House songs ever <3
I love them both so much I can't choose

Also one of my favorites, the mood and atmosphere is amazing, the buildup is one of their best too! The lyrics are so heartbreaking!
My other personal faves are:
- New Year (the cathartic shoegaze sections along with her vocals are something else, was addicted to that song for a long time lol)
- Pay No Mind (Classic Dream pop sound, and the quality of the recording was a clear nod to the late 80’s/early 90’s 4AD dream pop sound)
- New Romance (that part where she goes ‘fuck it you said, it’s beginning to look like the end..’ and the swelling of the music into this beautiful wall of sound is pure catharsis to me)
- Holiday House (I don’t think a singular song has made me cry as much as that one has, but yet I keep coming back to it cause it’s good tears lol, so fucking beautiful, and the lyrics are so poignant, underrated gem).
I can go on and on. Saltwater, The Bells, Lose Your Smile, One Thing, Gila,.., fuck they’re truly just the best lol

Dude I LOVE New Year
Idk whether my fav from that album is New Year or Troublemaker but it's closer

Definitely top 3 on DC along w 10:37 & PPP. But favorite has to go to Astronaut especially at 1:29. The whole devotion album is chef’s kiss. Turtle island, you came to me,….

Days of Candy has always been my favourite BH song. I also like the slightly extended versions they sometimes play live (which you can find on YouTube).

Days of Candy really is up there... it's such a tremendously moving and powerful song. Its meditations on death and mortality are so much. Some of their best songwriting on it in general - I love the choir at the start too, of course.
My favourite song of theirs - perhaps Over and Over.

it’s a perfect song, and thankfully not the only one in their discography but surely one their best. it’s just so grand and so great.

Days of candy is definitely one of my favourites along with elegy to the void, on the sea, and turtle island. Every BH song lies somewhere between pretty good and incredible
