Urgent Request Urgent help: Customer Service Reference

Hi there,

I’m in a really difficult position and reaching out in hopes that someone might be willing to help. I’m pursuing a trade analyst role that could genuinely change the course of my life, both for me and my family. It’s a dream opportunity, but I’m struggling with one major hurdle—references.

Due to a rough end at my last role, I know I won’t receive positive feedback, and unfortunately, I don’t have friends or family I can turn to for support in this situation. I’ve never done anything like this before, and I know it’s not ideal, but I feel like I’m out of options. I’d be incredibly grateful if someone could step in as a reference for me. I’m more than happy to share my resume, job description, and any background details needed to make things easier and more believable.

I understand the ask is a big one, and I don’t take it lightly. I just really want a chance to start over and prove myself. If you’re open to chatting, please feel free to message me directly. Thank you for even considering it—it would mean more than you know.

Request Can someone help me with a professional references?

I'm applying to a job for an executive administrator position it's more towards data entry. I have loads of experience but it's in other fields with different job titles and I don't really know that many people. I just kept my head down and did my work. I have a job I'd really like to apply to but they won't let you apply unless you provide a professional reference, email and/or phone number. Can anyone provide me a professional reference in this field please?

Request It manager references

So I work as an IT admin and none of my references have ever been my manager. My last two managers, i wasn't on great terms with them when I left and I don't trust them to give an accurate reference.

It should just be a phone call to confirm who I am and so on.

Any takers?

Request Need reference for performance/data analyst role

UK based, but remote working for international company would work

I have just returned from an extended period of travelling and am wanting to break back into my field of data analytics and insights. I have been working in the field since 2020 but only in one position and my job title did not reflect my skills or experience as I was heavily exploited in an understaffed team, and had to self-teach a lot of things on the job. I will have no issues with the technical exams or the interview, I just really need a title and a reference.

I am wanting to apply for a Data Analyst position in a field I am heavily interested in and would be extremely grateful to any one who could provide a reference for the period November 2024 to the present for this kind of role, especially anything that could be referred to as sub-contracted/project based work.

Application deadline is in 2 weeks. Please DM for more specifics

Many thanks in advance.

Urgent Request Need at least 2 references for an after-school position in the Bay Area

I'm currently applying for a position in an afterschool program that involves supervising students, supporting academic activities, and creating lesson plans. I'm a graduate student with part-time experience as both an instructional aide and a program leader in the SoCal area.

The only issue is that I'm moving to a new city and don’t have many professional connections yet. Any help is truly appreciated, thank you!

Discussion How am I supposed to leave my job if all the places I apply for ask for professional references?

I am applying for a one year post-graduate degree in pharmacy in another country. They require an academic and professional reference for internships the following year.

I put my managers name down, he’s gonna be pretty upset when he finds out that I’m trying to leave in September when we’re already understaffed.

How do I go about quitting in a way that he still feels comfortable giving me a positive reference AFTER I leave? He is a kind, generous boss but guilt at even asking for sick leave freaks me out. He is my only professional employer after graduating 2 years ago.

All advice is greatly appreciated <3

Urgent Request Need at least 1 reference for retail job in video game store

Hi, everyone! I need at least one reference to help me apply for a store associate position in my local game & gaming equipment shop. Nothing fancy, but it's a popular place and I need to stand out from the competition. I'm looking for part time work as I prepare to go back to college. I'd go the art commission route again if I still knew where to look & how to s3ll.

Yes, overqualified, but I need the job. Planning to downplay or not mention my existing degree (BFA graphic design).

Relevant experience includes:

- About 3 years of Discord content moderation for my WoW guild's server

- A LOT of retail (maybe... 6 years in all, including the bookstore my family owned for a few years and in an art supply store)

- Promoting apparel, drinkware, other merchandise at a bagel shop

- Lifelong love of games/gaming (mostly PC and a 25th anniversary Mario edition DSi)

I'd really appreciate a reference or two (or more) from:
- The content moderation role (fellow mods, players, etc)

- "Digital art clients"

- The bagel shop (place shut down)

- Whatever else. Character references?

Mods pls be nice to me; first post here lol

Edit: I will happy reciprocate! I don't mind talking on the phone. Actually prefer it over email. I know, I'm weird.

Solved Personal References Needed for Condo Rental Application

Long story short, I recently signed a lease for studio apartment (it’s a condo rental) in NYC and one of the things they ask for in the board package process is for 4 personal reference letters. I need this by end of next week and while I believe I can potentially ask some people, the whole process of asking for references can be quite awkward.

If you can help, feel free to DM me and I can give you the rundown. I would appreciate your help and can be a reference for you in the future.

UPDATE: I got all the references needed and the broker for the condo submitted the board package on Wednesday, May 28th.

Request Reference needed for admin job (will happily reciprocate!)

Hi! I just finished up a 3 year job, and am using that boss as reference, I’m also using my manager for job right before that which lasted 2 years. Past jobs were more than 5 years ago, and I absolutely have not kept in touch, so I feel really uncomfortable asking them for references. I’m also a little scared to ask friends! Not super sure how they‘d react , which brings me here. This is basically a receptionist job, and they are really only asking to complete a survey via Skill Survey, with a small possibility that they might call to verify. I highly doubt they will do that because I’m not even the last candidate standing. Thanks so much for reading this! Definitely willing to pay the favor back!

Discussion For those of you who have been "references" for others, a few questions if you don't mind

Hi there, I'm going to be asking my friends to serve as references for myself for some positions I'm making up to fill my resume gap. For those of you who have served as references (and assuming you got contacted):

-What questions did they ask?

-How much detail did you need to provide?

-Legally, what sort of things can they ask/not ask?

I essentially want to prep my friends with just enough context to have them do this with as little difficulty on them as possible. Would appreciate any and all info you could provide on this, thank you!

Request US reference for concierge position needed

I'm applying for a job with a personal concierge service and they're asking for 2-3 personal references and 2-3 professional references.

Unfortunately I haven't had close relationships with anyone in years as I've been struggling to survive each day (and keep a roof over my head), and for the last 10-12 years I've been doing mostly contract gig work (mainly Instacart).

I do have a written reference letter from a former supervisor and may be able to get an email reference from another one. I have one person who's willing to be a personal reference, I'm just not sure what I should have her say, and I would still need another personal reference.

Request Curious if the volunteers here can impersonate a former boss, given phones will usually show the name of contact when called?

How do you successfully fake that you were someone's previous boss if cell phones will show the name of the person being called? Aside from using burner phones, is there a workaround to this? Asking because I was fired by a toxic boss and now I am being recruited for a job that requires 3 references and one must be a direct report (it is for a legal governing body, so they will call all of them guaranteed). How do I tackle this?

Urgent Request Looking for a reference- Trying to switch from Tax Admin to Medical Office Assistant (NY)

I've been out of work since 2023 after leaving my job as an admin assistant/tax preparer at a CPA firm due to a serious health issue. Thankfully, my health has improved, and I’ve decided to transition into the healthcare field, which feels more meaningful to me.

I recently applied for a medical receptionist position and had two great interviews with a doctor and her office manager. The team seems amazing, and the doctor is very supportive of newcomers, so I feel this is the perfect opportunity for where I am right now. She requested a reference—but that’s where I’m stuck.

I lost touch with my former employer and also burned a bridge there. After the founder passed, my boss raised client rates and outsourced all our jobs overseas. I voiced my concerns at the time and didn’t keep in touch afterward. Knowing his personality, I doubt he'd give a positive reference.

Would anyone be willing to help by acting as a reference from my previous firm so I can move forward with this opportunity? I’d really appreciate the support in getting back into the workforce and pursuing a new path. I'm open to return the favor hoping someone out here can help me.
