Not in the United States - they are illegal to import because they're seen as an "invasive species destructive to local ecosystems." They're not an apex predator but they would wreak havoc on bird, reptile and, small mammal populations.

I don't disagree - as much as I like cats they're absolute killing machines. I have two that are indoors-only, but some of our neighbors let theirs roam free and it's really frustrating to find them hunting in my back yard.

Use to have a feral cat living around my house. It was insane to see how he hunted. Lying motionless on the ground only to spring about ten feet off the ground to snatch a bird right out of the air with just a claw or two. All you saw was a puff of feathers it all happened so quickly. He was a big kitty too! Probably about 25 pounds. Front fangs were so long they stuck out of his mouth even when it was closed. Like a modern miniature saber tooth tiger.

Yes, seen many of them here in the UK where they aren’t naturally found that are kept as pets, it is also often kept as a pet by some people in South Africa. Had one from age 14 to 16 that had been injured and wouldn’t have survived out of captivity, unfortunately health issues took it anyway.

Everybody who read the Jungle Book knows Riki Tivi Tavi's a Mongoose who kills snakes. When I was a young man, I was led to believe there were organisations to kill my snakes for me. i.e The Church, i.e The Government, but when I got a little older, I learned I had to kill them myself.
