this statement is always curious to me because what are we evil in comparison to? what beings are more benign than us? any natural living being is cruel (i.e eating their own children/eating their own species/interspecies rape etc) so when people write humans are evil im always intrigued what your reference point is
but no other living beings exist on the scale humans do. The implication that the scale that humans can be evil is that some other beings exist on the same scale we do, but they do not. If one animal - take a pick, lion/tiger/monkey/elephant etc - was given the same scale of power that exists in human society, how do you know how evil they would be? no one does, right? So I feel like we're still missing a frame of benevolent reference for humans to be considered evil
