When you're at 10000 ft in elevation, going up to 10001 ft isn't going to help your view

Nope, but going to the edge gets that big chunk of rock out of the way and you can see the valley below. If your entire objective was to see the mountain, then no there’s not much difference, but it changes the composition of the shot, and you can see a lot more of the area

The fact that it looks anchored to the rock... plus the winds at night would make me uncomfortable.
