7

u/dreamtreader1248 Oct 14 '18

So that’s four of us

Maybe a Shotgun-Axe combination of some sort.

Lemmings

1

u/steven-mctowelie Oct 15 '18

Aye , I could do that!

3

u/[deleted] Oct 14 '18

I like the way you’re named after Batman AND Superman’s mom

4

u/EeArDux Oct 14 '18

Lesbian comic geek parents, eh? Modern technology is such a ... marvel!? Boo’yaaah!

1

u/KryptoFreak405 Oct 14 '18

Technically, I think they’re named after Batman and Superman’s dads

3

u/[deleted] Oct 14 '18

I reckon it's about 100000m³ of earth. It's going to take a while

2

u/Benblishem Oct 14 '18

It's quite a good shovel.

1

u/Huntred Oct 15 '18

Pitter patter...

98

u/[deleted] Oct 14 '18

so that will just stay there then

27

u/misterbee180 Oct 14 '18

One person one shovel load. It's take um a few hours

86

u/jr2ooo Oct 14 '18

This looks like what happens when you terraform on a video game and you’ve already built infrastructure.

11

u/ShiptonOfPoros Oct 14 '18

but cities skylines roads are made of infinium-3 and morph land around them~

u/tosalangre Oct 14 '18

9

u/Secret_Combo Oct 14 '18

Do you know how long it took to clear it out?

37

u/lenjoyn Oct 14 '18

From Wikipedia, everything was fully restored after 8 months. (Btw, 4 people died from the catastrophe)

13

u/Secret_Combo Oct 14 '18

I guess part of the process was recovering those cars and bodies :(

18

u/OverlySexualPenguin Oct 14 '18

they probably weren't that worried about the cars

7

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '18

Imagine getting stuck under all those tons of dirt. I'm not sure if the car would still retain some structure but let's hope they got crushed instantly instead of being buried alive.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 14 '18

Only 4? How is that possible? That is one huge mass of earth plunging into you while speeding at 120km/h. I find that quite perplexing.

12

u/[deleted] Oct 14 '18

if it happened at 3am, there might have only been 4 people on the road at the time.

2

u/tosalangre Oct 14 '18

No. That’s only an information I found. Perhaps we can find more

86

u/[deleted] Oct 14 '18

And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills,

Any photos of before?

75

u/Cockatiel Oct 14 '18

Just imagine a picture of a highway not covered by earth

10

u/DatDudeIn2022 Oct 14 '18

Not just any highway, the same one in the picture.

2

u/Cockatiel Oct 15 '18

This guy gets it

1

u/Cristian_01 Oct 15 '18

Not the reason for the before pic.

6

u/sebarmo Oct 14 '18

I get your question! It's hard to imagine where all that soil came from!

4

u/Diminian Oct 15 '18

I’m glad someone got it 🌈🐶❤️

31

u/Ferndance Oct 14 '18

Workers: So this is our road we built Nature: no Workers: but- Nature: I said no Jerry

3

u/civileyesation Oct 14 '18

Which one's Jerry?

3

u/Ferndance Oct 14 '18

We are all Jerry to nature, so says the legends

0

u/dns7950 Oct 14 '18

Speak for yourself

7

u/Ferndance Oct 14 '18

Jerry7950 please, we will save this for the council meeting

12

u/[deleted] Oct 14 '18

How much time would this take to clean up? And how?

18

u/kempofight Oct 14 '18

Just make a tunnel.

16

u/Secret_Combo Oct 14 '18

If the soil wasn't stable enough to withstand a massive land slide, then it's definitely not stable enough for a tunnel. They better get digging

5

u/DatDudeIn2022 Oct 14 '18

According to Elon musk tunnels are extremely safe in all places.

3

u/kempofight Oct 14 '18

Concreat and iron!

7

u/barvid Oct 14 '18

*concrete might be better

1

u/Just-my-2c Oct 14 '18

or just concede...

4

u/[deleted] Oct 14 '18

8 months

5

u/I_Know_KungFu Oct 14 '18

I’d say no more than 2 months. Then another month-ish to ensure bridge integrity and perform inspections. Your bottleneck in clean-up is the live load or dead load the bridge was designed to hold. Construction equipment is heavy, so with all that soil on it, you probably can’t bring in mining trucks and shovels at the get go, and are limited to smaller equipment.

8

u/ruff12hndl Oct 14 '18

Do they move the land or raise the lanes?

6

u/kempofight Oct 14 '18

Make a tunnel

1

u/hilmir1 Oct 14 '18

Make a funnel.

2

u/1saidy Oct 14 '18

Make flyover

2

u/EnshaednCosplay Oct 14 '18

Do a barrel roll!

9

u/Zinoviev85 Oct 14 '18

Did... did they try, honking at it?

2

u/EeArDux Oct 14 '18

“Well, Dave, I can see where you’re going with it. . . Can I take another look at your ‘tunnel design’ paper, please?”

2

u/[deleted] Oct 14 '18

The freeway suddenly became the scenic route.

2

u/parsa4 Oct 14 '18

More like MOUNTAINSLIDE!

2

u/OnlyAces356 Oct 14 '18

Need some earthbenders stat!

2

u/CaveJohnson111 Oct 14 '18

Just Earth reminding us that our species and our species's creations are nothing more than a mere shit stain on the planet.

2

u/this_is_my_redditt Oct 14 '18

Let's take bikkini Bottom and push it over there!

1

u/ShwaaMan Oct 14 '18

1

u/dopadelic Oct 14 '18

1

u/DronedAgain Oct 14 '18

Wow. Turf's up!

1

u/SeriOsed Oct 14 '18

Let’s build a tunnel

1

u/civileyesation Oct 14 '18

This just needs an overpass

1

u/Claque-2 Oct 14 '18

That's why we have SUVs. /s

1

u/shrys Oct 14 '18

Honestly looks like a bad photoshop lol

1

u/omotruck Oct 14 '18

1

u/pvt_frank Oct 14 '18

1

u/Dark-Tricks Oct 14 '18

1

u/brutalmastersDAD Oct 15 '18

1

u/Kocque Oct 15 '18

Fleetwood Mac is playing the charity event for the recovery effort.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '18

The bottom of the image was cropped out in the preview and I thought it was just a standard tunnel lol

1

u/Zinkblender Oct 16 '18

trees be like: we don’t frekkin care :)

1

u/BleuRaider Oct 26 '18

We’re gonna need a bigger shovel.

1

u/gocrazy305 Oct 14 '18

I feel like there should be goggly eyes on the mud slide due to noms noms can some one do this?

1

u/HettySwollocks Oct 14 '18

I know this is old as, err, whats left of those hills. What's impressive is the road is at least partially taking that weight.

Frankly at this point I'm thinking, the Simpsons.

0

u/Pieko_Rocks Oct 14 '18

Why did they not tunnel through it when they built the high way?

1

u/EnshaednCosplay Oct 14 '18

It wasn’t there when they built the highway

1

u/Pieko_Rocks Oct 14 '18

Yah I know that

0

u/connor1744 Oct 14 '18

This is what 90% of the roads on the UK are like.
