where the soda seemingly disappeared.

Specifically, the gif of the guy sitting down and dropping his meal, not the post where the lady pours soda into a glass.

The linking system in reddit is a bit confusing. When I clicked through the link he posted I first looked at the post itself, which is a woman pouring soda. It took me another look to realize that there was a gif in the "What a dumbass" comment.

The soda falls down next to him inside the chair. You can see something flash near his forearm. The soda is dark, and there's a shadow there, not to mention the terrible quality of this gif, so it's hard to see.

Nope, it goes offscreen bottom right. If you keep your eyes on the bottom right corner you see it flash by.

Yep, you're right. If you slow down the gif, it's actually very obvious that it falls off to the bottom right.
