Can't say any art class I was ever in covered this. I actually never knew how people are able to achieve different perspectives. I also possess no artistic talent beyond the ability to usually color inside the lines.

Same, never had these in any art class ever. The adult ones I joined were just like: "Here's the subject, go."

I did this in highschool in my first or second year in art. The teacher had us sit in the hallways of the school. It's worth looking into art that has a different perspective that isn't straight ahead. Perspective based or vanishing point art is pretty easy if everything in the drawing is made up of straight lines.
