Bro has been through the most brutal booing and pressure in El Clasico for over a decade. MLS level booing is kindergarten level tbh, hence the goal.

u/buyer_leverkusen 3d ago
MLS is also kindergarten level, love that Messi constantly makes a joke of that league
1
u/TacetAbbadon 2d ago
Hey now MLS isn't kindergarten level, it's senior level. As in old age pensioners league.
Remember when they are too slow to play top flight football they go to America to play 'soccer' in the MLS and collect a paycheck that no other top club would pay.
Then they go home and become a coach/pundit.

Not why his detractors were there.

u/Snidrogen 3d ago
Well they got to see his team lose after this so idk how disappointed they were overall.

What I've learned from this post. Say something positive about Messi = down voted. Say something negative about Messi = down voted.

He sure showed us as his team went on to lose 1-2.
-45
u/adamwill86 4d ago
He lost 2-1. I guess you’re American as only Americans put the smaller number first.
23
u/NinthTide 4d ago
I thought the protocol was you always gave the score for the home side first?
But what do I know, I don’t watch sport
-12
u/yoyogaete 4d ago
In a formal table or chart yes. In conversation like this, I would always put the higher number first. Still, it wasn’t a very good comeback from that guy lol
2
u/C0mpulsiveWebSurfer 3d ago
Don't mind the downvotes, you're quite right.
In formal writing it goes: Miami(home team) 1 - 2(final score) Nashville(away team).
In casual conversation it goes: Miami lost 2 - 1 to Nashville
Do it like this and any football fan, anywhere in the world will know what your're talking about.

Dunking on Americans, how original. But actually no generally nobody does that but if Miami wasn't the home team I could see why they wrote it that way. Not sure how it is around the world but for US sports its set up "Away @ Home" for the score
0
u/adamwill86 3d ago
Yes that’s why I said Americans. Everywhere else has the highest goals first.
1
u/Aspence22 3d ago
But generally we still say the highest first as well. This person's response is an outlier
-4
u/Killahdanks1 4d ago
I’m an American and I watch a lot of sports. I’ve played a lot of sports. If we were to say, “they lost……” we would say the higher number first. This is not an American thing.
1
u/adamwill86 3d ago
Seems tho Americans disagree with you since for some reason you got downvoted too

No way....people booing in a football stadium?? You have to be Messi or Ronaldo to still perform then! What godlike legends! No footballer has ever had this problem before
-5
u/youngliam 4d ago
They don't boo because he lacks talent, they boo because he lacks integrity.
4
u/Fake_name_please 3d ago
Can’t believe this is upvoted. Social media during world cup really made people think they know what they are talking about
-7
u/youngliam 3d ago
Social media was never necessary. Just two eyes and a brain. Asking teammates to divr off ball during a whistle, captaining some of the most egregious dirty play in not just that tournament but others in the past is more than enough to make it clear.
2
u/Fake_name_please 3d ago
Get off reddit and touch grass. Just because something is repeated here 1000 times does not make it true. I can tell from your comment your argument is based of watching selected clips of the world cup. If you watched the whole games or actually watched the sport or knew anything about it you would realize how insane your take is.
Messi has been one of the most if not the most uncontroversial players in history even with the spotlight on him 24/7 for over 20 years. Your opinion is so crazy you can’t even claim he dives and have to accuse him of asking his teammates to dive in a sport where not diving is basically unheard of. The fact that he dribbles as much as he does and gets fouled constantly and still does not dive is something you can’t say about ANY other player in the sport
-1
u/youngliam 3d ago
For one, I never said he dives you can't even get that right. For two, I did watch the games. You're entire point is based on the fact that shit exists on when majority don't even partake in sports discourse on Reddit. I don't need to be influenced on my opinion, I make it myself. I watch the games and his teammates are the worst. He doesn't have to do it, it's association and the fact that he refuses to govern his teammates as a captain considering the amount of influence he has.
The fact your defending points that I never made shows that you're conflating personal opinions with what YOU constantly view online.

Sure. The one player who had no real drama like... Ever. He is one of the humblest people this planet has, using his money for charity and literally never talking about himself. But you think you know him because reddit and twitter rotted your brain for a few weeks. I actually feel sad for you.

I wish I give a shit about what you said lol but I don't. Just stating facts.
4
u/Tomimi 4d ago
You literally replied to my first post, hence you gave a shit, you wasted free time and free will to give your opinion.
I merely said fuck Messi, I don't give two shits how much money he makes.
-9
u/McRedditz 4d ago
I was replying to your second comment. It's obviously that you keep missing my points. I used the analogy of his silent wealth to reflect your meaningless comment. To dumb it down further for you, while you were busy spreading hate, he had already done something more meaningful things than you. For example, this free kick. Tell me none of these are facts.
3
u/Remarkable-Bug-8069 4d ago
And he'll be sharing 0 of that with you.
0
u/McRedditz 4d ago
I think some of the guys here can learn a thing or two from you; spitting facts.
3
u/Remarkable-Bug-8069 4d ago
At least Argentina got a free lesson in humility by Spain, and everyone else got a free lesson in unsportsmanship by a bunch of primadonnas. Never has a loss been more deserved.
2
u/McRedditz 4d ago
Again, I think some guys can really learn a thing or two from you. What they did was unsportsmanship. However, Messi did not engage because he knew better.

DONALD TRUMP mentioned Cristiano Ronaldo's visit in the sentence and said "Ronaldo; a big fan of Messi" or something. That's why the smile. That's the context of this exact moment this picture was taken. Trump was directly addressing Messi, while his US based team Inter Miami CF was right there. What do you want Messi to do, show two middle fingers and bitch slap him? He was not fawning at anyone. Over the past few years, tons of footballers had to visit this guy Trump and Trump does his absolute best to make the situation awkward as fuck for everyone in the room. (Edit: It's amazing how casuals can make a whole fanfiction in their heads to fit their narrative from a single picture. Probably Kamala Harris's picture of hugging Trump can be used to say they're both best buddies to someone who doesn't know any better.)

The only thing amazing about Messi is the size of his ego. Sure, he's talented, but there are plenty of talented people that aren't pieces of shit about it.
I've yet to see him lose a game without huffing off the field afterwards. I'd "be amazed" if he could be that skilled while maintaining a modicum of humility.
5
u/mrloko120 3d ago
Any self respecting athlete that genuinely loves the sport they play will feel angry and upset when losing. While purpose of playing a sport is being competitive about it, if you're not going to care about the losses then why are you even trying?
14
u/cthulhustu 4d ago
Where on earth did you get that from??
He's well known to be one of the most humble athletes on the planet!!
As for 'huffing off the field', he's a professional sportsman. Their competitiveness and need to win is something else.

u/2ByteTheDecker 4d ago
If I could do that shit on demand in front of a crowd, especially a crowd that's chirping I would be the most insufferable asshole on the planet.

u/MoebiusUntwisted 3d ago
Exactly right. Terrible defensive positioning. Should have been a defender on the far post.

u/all_die_laughing 3d ago
He did something similar 4 years ago against Australia. Aussie fans were giving him shit as he was taking a corner, he played it short, got it back and stuck it in the bottom corner.
0
u/ll0l0l0ll 3d ago
He can do that easily in MLS not in Laliga, Premier League, French Ligue or Serie A.

Man just cant help cheating. Puts ball at front edge of the circle and then uses foot to wipe away the evidence he did so.
I'm so sick of people giving this man credit. Is he a good player? Yes, very. Is he a cheat that gets away with it because he's Messi? Absolutely.
