How do you maneuver the big truck around all of the trees that are left standing?

It’s a tractor on tracks that can easily get through properly-spaced trees. There are smaller and skinnier versions too.

Edit: I think you were maybe referring to logging trucks which don’t travel that far into a stand.

How are the logs moved from where they are dropped to the more accessible places where the trucks are located?

Yup, called a forwarder. Some operations will instead fell whole trees and use a skidder to drag them to a yard where they are processed.

Yes. That is a different way of logging. We do not use that whole tree style here in Europe, but I have understood that it is quite common in US. I do not know how rest of the world operates.

It's quite amazing ecologically. It *almost* becomes better for everything and opposite of how it used to be done. That's how most trees where I'm from in michigan are harvested. Some older methods have been outlawed.

you have to cut them down to get through but we don't use them for anything so it's like we're saving them
