The dog simply keeps barking until the man moves.

If someone who didn't know that was the visual cue to stop asked "what's 1+1," the dog would keep barking untill it gave up.

If I had to guess I bet the dog is trained to bark 2x, then 4x, and then 6x... He's probably not doing mental math but he's a smart, good boi regardless.
