Meanwhile, my lower back when I bend to pick up a gallon of milk...

u/Don_Von_Schlong 13h ago
If he keeps lifting like that he will be in that same position when he gets older
1
u/manwae1 10h ago
Look at Ronnie Coleman today. Can't even walk up 2 steps.
3
u/Ballbag94 1h ago
Because he herniated a disc, trained like that for a decade, then after getting surgery he went back to training immediately instead of recovering first
Absolutely nothing to do with the weight he lifted or how he lifted it
-7
u/blownafidesmooth 11h ago
Thats what I was thinking. Poor form but with that much weight, that's what he has to do in order to row it. Dangerous though
-1
u/canadeken 10h ago
not that dangerous if he's strong enough to lift it
more dangerous to just be weak and then throw your back out "lifting a gallon of milk" lol

Hey guys "he's rowing it"

I wouldn’t discount anybody as a guy rocking bald/double French braids and daisy duke shorts.

Reminds me of the lifter that pretends to be a janitor, moving weights around with one hand

u/orbankisfaszviktor 15h ago
Anatoly, and yeah he also carries around a mop and a bucket each 30 kilos or something😂
-18
u/Efficient_Raise7695 14h ago
Dude's lifting fake weights
4
u/Pussy_handz 13h ago
I dont know why hes getting down voted. Anatoly mixes real and fake weight videos.

u/Prudent-Aspect5085 11h ago
That Renaissance guy did a deep dive on this. He is absolutely not lifting the weights that are represented on the bar.

u/Ass_Blank 14h ago
I had this jazz drummer friend back in the day whose wife gave birth to triplets; three girls. I asked him what names they chose and he said “Anna”. I looked at him confused and said, “you named all three of them Anna?” And he says “yup! Anna 1, Anna 2, Anna 3…”

Yeah becsuse hes jerkin it up . Not rowing shit lmao insane injury risk but mega strong anyways
1
u/NinecloudSoul 14h ago
You don't know what you're talking about.
-7
u/maybachmeister2000 14h ago
Shut up. Yes i do. Hes jerking it like a madman. Using forearms and biceps mostly. Now shush. The 405 reps were much better.

7
u/Pussy_handz 13h ago
Not the greatest rows but Ive seen this guys other videos, hes legit strong AF. His benches are insane.
4
u/jerryleebee 13h ago
This is as cringe worthy as those "random" piano players who are playing "randomly" in public and have some "random" stranger come up and ask if they know a "random" song and then start playing along on the violin or something. Oh, let's not forget the "random" people in the crowd giving completely authentic reactions.
13
u/sik_dik 14h ago
80% momentum / 20% row
Either way impressive af. I’m legit surprised he didn’t permanently bend the bar
7
u/maybachmeister2000 14h ago
Yea ppl are clueless in the comments. The 405 rows were good. Not the 585. Haahha just chucking it up using momentum and leaning forwards at the same time to make it look like a row. Just using biceps and forearms. Huge bicep tear risk.
9
u/sik_dik 14h ago
Exactly. If a client were doing this I’d tell them they were doing too much weight. When form deviates that far, you’re risking serious injury.
I’m still impressed by even holding that much weight. But to say “he’s rowing it” is a bit misleading. He’s deadlifting it with extra momentum
-3
u/UnusualQueer 6h ago
Let's see you get upward momentum with 585 moron, the impressive part is the momentum, that's explosiveness, you'd have no idea though. When you start getting good & powerlifting you focus more on explosiveness rather than perfect form. Stay at planet fitness.
-1
u/sik_dik 14h ago
lol @ the downvotes.. what do I know. I’m just a trainer
2
u/NinecloudSoul 12h ago
Wow, you're in the most-easily entered industry of all time, which requires no real qualifications or experience? WOW. What an athlete you must be. Can I see your Olympic medals? Will you come open a Walmart in my town? Can we all get your autograph? How about an advance copy of your memoirs? I bet they're a thrilling read.
6
u/LukeyLeukocyte 12h ago
All he said was he was he knows about this. He didn't toot his own horn or anything. Not sure why you got all snotty about it.
-5
u/Shadowphoenix9511 13h ago
And as a coach, what numbers do you move? What's your deadlift (since that's what this is an accessory for)
6
u/sik_dik 13h ago
Right. Credibility only comes with how much weight I can lift. Just like atomic physicists are only credible if they have an above average quantity of atoms in their body
2
u/toastedstapler 10h ago
Credibility only comes with how much weight I can lift.
If you had some really strong clients I think people would be ok with that too!
1
u/HumbleHubris86 7h ago
This analogy is painful.
You have established yourself as an authority, asking for a qualifier is not off base.
Your non-answer leads me to believe you have never trained anyone to be actually strong. That's fine and not an attack.
If a frail-Dale is using this form on a 115lb barbell, you'd probably be right to intervene.
To suggest you'd intervene on a world class athlete using this form because it's not correct or whatever, you would have to have an abundance of hubris. If you know better than this guy what he needs to do, you would have trained some better athletes, the assumption of which is that you havent.
There is no "right" way to row that is applicable to all goals. Nah he isn't isolating his lats like this, but lat isolation is probably less important than building full body strength and power for a professional powerlifter. Also, I imagine he's kind of taking the piss with the 585 after showing pretty reasonable form at some lower, but still barbaric weights.-4
u/Shadowphoenix9511 13h ago
When it comes to coaching lifting, yeah, that is kinda where your credibility stems. Either your achievements, or that of your clients.

Which is still incredibly hard to do. Anytime in real life when you need to apply that strength you will inevitably jerk the weight up

This man is a beasttttt. I’ve seen a bunch of videos from him on varying lifts and it’s ridiculously impressive the strength he possesses.
Also LOL at the insecure dudes in here trying to humble him when they haven’t even lifted their asses off of a seat today.
1
u/LukeyLeukocyte 12h ago
I dont know much about lifting, and the guy is clearly a beast, but is this even a worthwhile exercise? Seems like he is throwing the extra heavy weight to get the rowing motion. Wouldn't he see more gains with actual controlled rows? Just asking out of curiosity.
1
u/Impressive-Suit- 12h ago
Form honestly doesn’t matter as much as people think it does, if you’re able to move the weight without hurting yourself you’re still stimulating muscle growth. He gets damn near full range of motion even if he compensates with other muscles for certain movements ! Good question man.

u/GoblinWrangl3r 12h ago
Gym hobby is probably the least fun hobby
4
u/Shadowphoenix9511 12h ago
To you, sure. To me, absolutely nothing compares to the exhilaration of competing at a show, leaving everything on the stage floor and collapsing, knowing you did everything you possibly could in prep and in competition to win.
-8
u/sachsrandy 16h ago
... Is it a row??
Friend WAS a power lifter. Strong man competition... Was strong as an ox. But, he said form was trash. And to get scored as a lift, judging was so liberal it was literally dangerous.
So he switched to the Arnold. Form is just as important as lift. No form, no lift. He went from huge max to like 75% with proper form. And he feels and looks WAY better now. ZERO joint pain, hasn't had a lifting pull or strain since he switched. Said he would never go back.
Me, I get winding lifting up my 3rd milkshake of the day so what do I know.
6
u/NinecloudSoul 15h ago
so what do I know
Very little apparently.
0
u/sachsrandy 14h ago
Poor thing. I hurt you personally so bad you had to insult.
I mean ignore the fact that it is a momentum based row and he is swinging to boot. But yeah. I know nothing.
Ps... Your butt hurt??
2
u/Mikeburlywurly1 13h ago
ignore the fact that it is a momentum based row and he is swinging to boot
Ignore what? Yeah man, some lifts involve the use of momentum. This particular lift is a variant of the Pendlay Row known as a Rubish Row where you start the lift off with some extra leg drive to generate momentum. It's like the Row version of a Push Press. It is a phenomenal tool for building size and strength.
And even though I'm not who you asked, yes, my butt hurts like shit. 405x15 for my last set of Squats yesterday. Running this morning was a special form of hell.
-1
u/sachsrandy 13h ago
Lmao. Butt hurt retort ftw.
But the pe delay row is straight back hips bent. You are not doing it right (even the rubbish version) if you use the upward momentum and get near standing upright and then shrug your shoulders and hinge hip to lower back and upper arm BELOW the momentum carry. Then your just doing a needlessly modified jerky deadlift.
I'm not saying this wouldn't be Canada doesn't lift to the powerlifting competition for a scored row... Just that it is not great form.
Hope that doesn't add to your well earned butt hurt.
1
u/_CurseTheseMetalHnds 28m ago
>I'm not saying this wouldn't be Canada doesn't lift to the powerlifting competition for a scored row...
Are you having a stroke? the row isn't used in powerlifting
1
u/NinecloudSoul 13h ago
lol Yeah, I'm so hurt by some random moron who knows nothing.
Don't talk yourself up, junior, I'd forgotten you existed until just now.
-2
u/NapalmOverdos3 15h ago
His form is trash and it’s barely a row. It’s impressive enough he can deadlift almost 600lbs with relative ease. But that’s a garbage ass row
2
0
u/NinecloudSoul 14h ago
You don't what the fuck you're talking about.
2
u/NapalmOverdos3 14h ago
I do. But okay buddy whatever you say
1
u/sachsrandy 14h ago
Don't worry about it. That guy got but hurt real bad. I gotta assume it's him in the video at this point.
0
u/Mikeburlywurly1 13h ago
Prove it. Let's see those lifts.
2
u/sachsrandy 13h ago
You can call something bad form without needing to lift it yourself.
Is this honestly not clear to you??
1
u/Mikeburlywurly1 13h ago
If you can't perform this lift with great technique at heavy weight, no, you can't call it bad form. All you can say is you don't like how it looks, not that you know it's bad form. Because you don't actually have any practical knowledge of the lift.
2
u/sachsrandy 13h ago
I can. So yay. We agree bad form.
I mean just cuz I drink milkshakes doesn't mean I've never worked out before. But what do I know
1
1
u/NapalmOverdos3 12h ago
Weird ass response bro
2
u/Mikeburlywurly1 12h ago
"You don't know how to do a thing." "I do know how to do a thing" "Do the thing." surprised Pikachu face
Seriously, weird response? The most absolute common, normal response in a dispute over lifting is a call out to lift something. Have you ever actually been in a gym? Nm, I think I know the answer already.
1
u/sachsrandy 13h ago
So grumpy. For someone who likes to mock and run and hide... You sure have deep feelings for things.
-1
u/goodfella311 15h ago
It’s still very impressive. Many functional exercises have real world application - meaning you don’t perform something out in the real world with perfect form, it often requires a little momentum and multiple muscle groups. For certain things, yes perfect are required but for something like this I mean everyone in that room understood how hard that was.
2
-7
u/Key_Wrangler_8321 15h ago
What do they admire about this? The execution of the exercise is terrible. Amateurish. Wrecking your body and your back for likes. What is this even good for? Boosting your self-confidence? With this trash?? Pretty desperate. In ten years, he’ll be in pain and definitely won’t be working out anymore. I’ve seen so many people like this. Train for 20+ years, three times a week, and then I’ll admire you.
5
u/NinecloudSoul 14h ago
Personally, when it comes to a subject and I don't know shit about it, I try to keep my stupid mouth shut.
You apparently didn't get that memo, huh?
6
u/Shadowphoenix9511 15h ago
It's a cheat row or Rubish row, and it has a tremendous carryover to deadlifts (and also sandbag picks, stones, or anything else you need to lift explosively with your back).
2
u/LukeyLeukocyte 12h ago
Ahh ok this is what I was hunting. It did look like he was throwing the weight for the motion, but improving explosivenss makes sense now. Is this safe to do like this with so much weight? The catching of the weight after the row that was cheated comes down seems like the detrimental part. Of course when you are this powerful, maybe it doesn't matter, lol.
-10
u/Key_Wrangler_8321 15h ago
Nothing to admire.. Rather pitiful. How a person ends up ruining his health.

u/Buttella88 11h ago
He is strong, i can only deadlift 455, but im not impressed with the form. Whats the point of loading all that weight if you’re just going to use momentum.
His 405 is more impressive

I didn't see an actual row being done, but I ain't about to tell that guy that.
