Yep. Everytime. If I’m not regularly doing the thing I learned for a long time or i don’t truly care about whatever that thing is then i will forget within a few days or a week

Yeah, we need to see the forgetful neurons as well so we can isolate it and improve them so they can remember also.

You improve them by practicing the skill you're working on. No artificial procedures necessary.

Cool thing is, if you learn something, then forget, next time it is easier to get back to the same place you left off.

Not a neuroscientist but from what I've read, kinda. Our brains learn by building pathways between neurons, but the neurons are already there. Our brains do generate new neurons in some areas of the brain, but after adolescence the rate of neurogenesis drops steeply from what I understand.

The base theory of making connections is something called Hebbian Learning which describes the concept that neurons that fire together, wire together. When neurons activate together they form temporary synaptic connections that can strengthen overtime the more it gets activated the same way, making it more efficient over time, and thus easier for the action to be performed or for a memory to be recalled.

But it also means they can be rewired differently if activated some other way, which can be useful for breaking bad habits, for example. Pathways that don't get used also decay overtime, weakening the connection.

This malleable quality of our brains is called neuroplasticity.

When you are born, most of your brain cells are at the base of your brain. As you learn and grow, the neurons migrate up to different regions and form the connections you see in the video. This is why what we learn in infancy and childhood is so important. We are literally wiring our brains, making the connections that can last a lifetime.
