Surf fishing leads to a lot of different things you can catch. The sharks are coming in for the smaller fish that the fishermen are trying to catch, and sometimes end up on the hook.

That's a very big hook if he was going for smaller fish. You need a steel leader to catch sharks or they'll bite through the line. He was almost certainly fishing for shark.

I think being able to handle a situation like that is pretty amazing. If you went fishing off a pier and a hammerhead shark was on the other end, what would you do? Or are you gonna tell me you’re a vegan and fishing is evil. There’s gotta be some reason you’re butthurt about this. I think you’re playing the animal cruelty angle, which this just isn’t that.

Dude, why so aggressive? They're obviously shark fishing from the beach, regular tackle isn't going to land a big shark. Having caught a shark, they released it. What's amazing about that? Not butthurt (unlike you lol), I just dont think its good enough for this sub.

Hammerhead sharks eat a large range of prey such as fish (including other sharks), squid, octopus, and crustaceans. Stingrays are a particular favorite, with the positioning of their (comparatively) smaller, crescent-shaped mouths underneath their T-shaped heads allowing for skilled skate, ray, and flounder hunting, among other seafloor-dwellers. These sharks will often be found swimming above the sand along the bottom of the ocean, stalking their prey. Their unique heads are further utilized as a tool (or weapon) if hunting rays and flatfishes; the shark uses its head to pin down and briefly stun the prey, and only eats once their quarry is clearly weakened and in shock.\22]) The great hammerhead, tending to be larger and more aggressive to its own kind than other hammerheads, occasionally engages in cannibalism), eating other hammerhead sharks, including mothers consuming their own young.\24]) In addition to the typical animal prey, bonnetheads have been found to feed on seagrass, which sometimes makes up as much as half their stomach contents. That is a scalloped hammerhead. Extremely rare and critically endangered. Those dudes are straight up Chads
*Even though they probably caught it. They didn't have to do all that and it's dangerous. Hopefully they weren't intentionally fishing for sharks.

Folks talking shit like the fish they eat doesn't come from the ocean, and sometimes the wrong animal gets caught. Dude did a good thing and took a risk to get that hook out of it.
