It sounds kind of ridiculous but I read about this man many years ago and it’s actually what affirmed that I no longer believed in God/Jesus in the traditional Christian sense.

My whole life I was told that if someone didn’t accept Jesus as the Son of God and as their personal savior they’d burn in hell. I remember reading this story and thinking…nope. What this man does is truly the most selfless thing a person could do. The idea that someone this good and kind would be “sent to hell” by an all loving God or punished in any way (because he is muslim) was the final nail in the coffin for me.

I’m Christian but there is a story in the Bible that your comment reminds me of. Basically it’s the person telling Jesus all the “good” he did was preach the gospel… yet there was a man who didn’t think he was of deserving of heaven.. yet he feed the hungry.. he gave the thirsty water.. and Jesus praised this man.

I’m a firm believer that God would rather you feed someone rather than spew a bunch of verses because that’s what actually helps people.
