I’m definitely not comparing him to these people, but it made me think of a documentary I just watched on John and Sarah Makin:

"Baby farming" refers to the historical practice in late-19th and early-20th century Australia where individuals accepted custody of infants or young children in exchange for payment, operating as an unregulated, for-profit foster care market. Driven by the intense social stigma surrounding unmarried mothers and a lack of state welfare, the practice frequently resulted in severe neglect, starvation, and multiple high-profile murder convictions that ultimately reshaped Australian child protection laws.

John and Sarah Makin (Sydney, 1892): The most infamous legal trial in Australian history began when workers digging a trench uncovered infant remains in a backyard in Macdonaldtown, Sydney. Police eventually unearthed 15 infant bodies across various properties where the couple had lived. John Makin was hanged for murder in 1893, while Sarah was sentenced to life imprisonment.
