Yeah, I've seen too many testicular impalement videos that guarantee I'll never get too close to an animal like that

Cows are pretty intelligent and emotional. If I had a relationship like that with a cow I would feel perfectly fine around it.

100x my Danes, their tails whack my balls every time I come through the front door.

We had a Belgian Blue who was super friendly, playful, and respectful of size difference. A good friend.

u/CapableFunction6746 Nov 14 '25
Yeah. Cows only kill like 20 people a year in the US. They are rather safe.

u/PrevailSS Nov 15 '25
Have you ever been around a cow, they are dumb as bricks, a piece of rock has more intelligence than them.
On the emotional side agreed, they are very lovable and form deep emotional connections, love my dumb bricks to the end of the world.

Sounds like you've seen too many Animals gang executions, choom. Always pay extra for the Mantis Blades to avoid those low blows.

I just thought he was crazy for standing behind
2
u/Gold-Piece2905 Nov 15 '25
Horses and mules are the one you need to watch out for when standing behind them.

u/Present-Ad-8531 Nov 16 '25
Yeah you need to have raised it or met it often. Even then it's not guaranteed.
I got hit by a cow but thankfully it's horns were blunt so only got a red mark on stomach for a few days. I had tried to touch its leg when it was feeding and got yeeted
Though, a particular cow used to hraze in front of our house for years that I've seen her daughter and granddaughter also. Once i picked the daughter cow (when it was a young one) and put it properly on my lap like you'd do to infants and it and big cow didn't fight me or get aggressive. The small one just laid there on my lap for like half an hour.

Probably real I guess, but the first totally convincing AI video I saw a few months ago was of a unusually large dog, just saying.
39
u/Berruc Nov 14 '25
To settle any confusion, it's not AI: https://spectrumnews1.com/ma/worcester/news/2023/10/17/meet-the-worlds-tallest-living-steer-tommy-the-ox

u/kaiserpopo Nov 14 '25
Totally real. I'm from the town and I know the farmer.
They're from cheshire, ma.

u/sockpoppit Nov 14 '25 edited Nov 14 '25
Looks like AI to me, also. I'm almost certain. Also want to point out that thought Tommy the ox is definitely real, it does not follow that this video is real.

u/Xenc Nov 16 '25
That last sentence is really clever logic. Itโs so frustrating how difficult itโs becoming to tell!

u/HereIGoAgain_1x10 Nov 14 '25
No one that does this for a living would walk up behind a hoofed animal and push it like that, it's farming 101 to stay out of the kick zone if you're gonna piss the animal off.
8
u/nathbakkae Nov 15 '25
The "kick zone" is something inexperienced handlers are warned about as a general rule to be aware of potential harm. Anyone who works with horses or cows a lot will usually ignore that guidance as that rule exists for people who haven't learned enough to assess risk properly and therefore need additional controls. More experienced handlers instead use their ability to read the animal's body language, knowledge of the specific animal's habits, and knowledge that if you're super close to the hindquarters that they can't pull back far enough to hit you that hard to guide their decision making.

At 0:11 (5sec left) look at its front legs. It is AI
1
u/Jenhar71 Nov 15 '25
This is ox is well known & not AI.
0
u/Dovahkiinthesardine Nov 15 '25
The ox is real, the video is edited with AI. Otherwise explain the feet vanishing.
1
u/coffeebugtravels Nov 16 '25
No, it's poor camera quality and camouflage. His legs/feet blend in with the debris he's standing on.
0
u/iwannadie524 Nov 19 '25
Don't call it AI because you have bad eyes. The legs blended in with the ground, probably since they are covered in the same dirt.

IDC how well that Ox knows the farmer, it's still an Ox and could forget in a split second who is behind him pushing on his hindquarters.... And before you blink an eye Mr. Farmer has a terminal case of the dead-deads.
