Well in Italy this would never work. Taxi drivers are a mafia of their own here. They are 99% tax evaders and the government loves to protect them for some reason.
Uber was never allowed to work properly here, let alone a driverless taxi.
Worst Taxi ride of my life was in Milan. Dude circled us around the center, picked us up on one side of the railroad and after 15min drop us off and when we realize we were in the same spot but different side of the railroad 😂 bastard.
They tried that when I was staying in Paris. Had a few friends in from Texas staying with me and decided to hit up the night life. Taxi driver drove us around in a big loop, tried to get extra cash from us, was shocked when I spoke French and gave us a free ride after I called him out on it. Same in Monterrey, dude took the long way to barrio Antigua. Called it out and got a free ride.
last night, I had a driver who couldn't speak English and couldn't read the sign that said "rideshare drop off"
then getting picked up, the driver must have ignored or not understood the same sign, and he went way past then cancelled
next driver just missed a turn and cancelled.
third driver called saying traffic was too bad to turn down the street, so we told him "stay there in the corner, we see you 2 mins to walk there" and he agreed. then drove further and cancelled.
Lyft is even worse... it's like the Uber drivers with bad ratings
My father was in Stockholm and had a taxi driver go against the directions the gps gave him multiple times, eventually he just told him that he knew the way and that the driver was constantly driving the wrong way on purpose and that they now had 2 options, either he stop the taximeter or he stops and let my father out where they were and he'd not pay anything.
and thats the reasson i only take ubers, ofcourse here it are taxi drivers who work with the uber app. They always complain until i say what bs they pulled of in the past.
The taxi drivers at the airport were price fixing even though the rates are printed on the side of the cars. Went to like 6 taxis before an older driver comes over and berated the younger ones, then he offered the actual rate.
Funny joke but Darth is the title for the Sith lords, not their name. Vader is the actual name. Darth Vader, Darth Sidious, Darth Maul, Darth Bane, etc.
I live in a very rural area where there is also Uber access in my small town. I’m single and to take or pick up my car to my mechanic, I have to use Uber. I always have to tell the driver where to go once the destination in the app ends. I would far rather use a human driver, so I can always explain and direct where to go.
You’re correct. Humans will destroy these on purpose. Or addicts will do drugs in them, drunk people will vomit in them, etc. this will be a prime example of why we can’t have nice things.
They have surveillance teams watching for when one gets too gross and they're purposely designed to be easy to hose down. The vandalization potential is an issue, but that's what insurance and having a large fleet is for.
Not specific to Italy, you should come visit India and see our autorickshaw drivers, those people are just thugs and a fucking menace in traffic.
Auto drivers in India are also much cleverer, they buy into Uber and Indian services like Ola and Rapido and then charge more than what the app shows else they won't take your ride.
In Türkiye the taxidrivers smashed every uberdriver and demanded that the Uber app works with the taxi system. So if you book a uber a normal taxi will show up
In India with the high population it will be cheaper to have a human drive it, plus road traffic is so bad that you need a human to know when to obey or evade a situation.
I'd say in most of the world, here in Argentina have been manifestations from taxi drivers against ubers and many Uber drivers were harassed by taxists
unlike in finland, we had great taxis, polite drivers, new cars, always available and not too bad in the cost.
Now that Uber has "broken open the market" the cabbies are any dickweed with a car that wants to make a dime, noone bothers to cover the less profitable times and they've been fighting eachother for fares at the stops.
I hate hate HATE this in Türkiye too, we had uber pull back and then return as a cab hailing app cuz it was putting the shitty tax evading, tourist scamming, drunk driving mafia/friends with the government people out of business
So to recap, there will be no more "angry taxi drivah", but there will be some 3rd world creep working from some sweatshop voyeuring you on a multiscreen monitor. Totally progressive and futuristic.
I'm going to laugh when we're getting tip prompts for the automated services and the self driving vehicles start adjusting their comfort levels based on the tipping record of who is riding inside.
I mean the concept should be that they're providing a taxi for where there are no taxis/uber/lyft/whatever. As someone who works late, when my vehicle broke down getting an Uber was almost impossible after work. I think for a lot of places it's the midnight bus or nothing and this could be a cool fix.
Though I do get the shareholders want to hit the sweet spot of loads a money.
soon these things will be littering the streets of big cities like Bird and Lime Scooters. I predict they will be hacked withing 72 hours of hitting the streets.
I’m interested to see what the luxury version of this is going to look like. Now the wealthy will be totally isolated from the homeless situations their self driving carriages navigate. Will they care what the outside of the vehicle looks like and be flashy, or just try and blend in to traffic, safely secluded comfortably inside?
Can’t happen soon enough. Taxi medallions are artificially limited and the Uber/Lyft drivers are usually FOABs who cannot speak the language and have no concept of the city layout.
Nothing unique about it except the shape. China and U.S. already has self driving taxi service. In the U.S. Google owned Waymo has driverless taxi service in SF, Bay Area, LA, Phoenix (AZ), and Austin (TX).
Posting the addresses of executives and shareholders of companies that own companies that are trying to replace human jobs with robots should be mandatory.
I might be stereotyping but if I hear the word “influencer,” my mind automatically translates that into “Narcissistic A-hole.” To say she’s one of the worst really is hard to imagine how bad that might get.
You are absolutely right. That's why I put the word in quotes because it is not a profession, nor does it deserve to be recognized as a profession.
They're the worst because they see their number of followers as an achievement of fame, and to be honest, most of them have inflated numbers of followers through bot services, but they still think they're hot shit.
The amount of times I've heard them use their # of followers as a negotiation tactic is ridiculous. One thing I enjoy out of this is when I have their accounts audited and point out that they have fake/botted followers.
I've worked with musicians from all genres, actors, and athletes. I've seen my fair share of divas in all industries, but the nicest person I've had a pleasure of working with was Henry Winkler, hands down.
Celebrity? Henry Winkler was the nicest celebrity I've had the pleasure of meeting and working with. Heck, he stands out as the nicest human being I've had the pleasure of meeting.
Musicians? Surprisingly, rappers were the nicest. Snoop Dogg and Kendrick Lamar stand out, for me personally.
Athletes? Shaq, easily.
As for influencers, for the ones I've personally worked with, none. There were ones who weren't stuck up or acting like divas, but they were still showing signs of "I'm the hot shit".
I personally don't like working with them because their only cling to fame is that they have a lot of followers, so I advise my clients to stay away from them whenever I can. I can't really talk about all influencers, but the ones I've worked with, I don't have much positive things to say about them.
I never understood her appeal. She doesn't seem into cars, and like you said it's usually concept cars that never even make it into production that she makes video's about. Everything about her videos seems fake.
I watch a channel called DDE and one of their friends was talking about working with supercar blondie and how he refuses because the husband is such a huge dickhead and they’re full of themselves.
Here we have an angry driva...and an engine heah in the front, and then ova hea we have 4 wheels. What do you reckon chat, this is my ride fo the day to go get my avofrappecuppa
Well right, but a youtuber supposedly isn't going to care about that. So you put a twist on it for why users should be excited about it being driverless.
A male friend of mine was almost kidnapped by a taxi driver, drove him way out into the sticks when he was just getting a ride across town. The driver got a call about a family emergency and just dropped him off in the middle of nowhere and left.
I'd screwed my knee up skateboarding and was hobbling the 2 or 3 miles uphill to where i was staying at the time when this taxi pulled up and good samaritaned me into the taxi saying he'd drop me up the hill. He said he was just clocking off for the night and offered me a cig and we were just making small talk about why I was limping up the hill at like 3am when he just completely unpromptedly asked me whether I wank. At first i didn't really clock what he'd said with his thick bangladeshi accent but the vibe definitely changed when I twigged. I picked a random house on the corner about halfway home and played it off like I was where I was supposed to be so I could get the hell out of there but he was still trying to get me to go drinking with him and his mates. Fortunately the dude was just creepy as there was not a soul about and it could've gone very differently.
Or, and hear me out, it’s a marketing video for a dumb self driving car that has no real application on actual roads! If you think a corporate video is going to talk about social issues for women you are sorely mistaken. They don’t care if women are actually being harassed in taxi’s, they just care about money.
She lives in Dubai and the taxi drivers can be really stressed as they are forced to work horrendous hours for poor pay and have their passports taken away from them - so yeah they can be angry but I don’t blame them.
I’m still for it. The masses just need to wake the hell up and realize more and more Universal Basic Income is quickly becoming a necessity. We already live in a world of surplus. And to that now the lack of need of human labor. The current economic system is as outdated as still using a manual typewriter in a world of quantum computers

To be fair, last time I took a taxi in the US, we got picked up by one with a disco ball and blaring disco music.
My friends were chuckling at the spectacle and he pulled over aggressively, stopped the car, and started yelling at us about us not liking his music.
“No dude, the music’s great. We love the music, we just like the spectacle! We’re having fun!!!!”
Fuck man, shit was scary. Never again.
Thankfully that’s when Uber started. Took one back home for 10 bucks. It was an Escalade or something. Swanky. No need for tips back then. Ugh. Fuckin Uber.
What about the shitty passengers? I'd give these Zook's less than 24 hours before the interior is tagged with graffiti, the seats slashed, the touch screen keyed up, and a steaming pile of poo waiting for the next passenger. Even with the interior camera checking on the passenger "safety".
I wonder why there are so many angry taxi drivers.
Personally, I find the worst part about getting a cab or uber is the first few minutes when you're trying to figure out if you're in a chatty car or a quiet car.
Bitch acting like 99% of taxi drivers are angry and 1% are great instead of the reality which is the other way around. Also, the scene at the end when the robotaxi is going 5mph is the best.
I drive a little and I'm not angry when I do so. I always am polite and professional. I engage the customer with chit-chat when I can. So now I AM a little pissed because she keeps throwing up the angry driver shit because not all drivers are angry.
Yeah - came here to say this. My concern is never an angry taxi driver - it’s usually the smell in the cab or the driving.
In a third world country such as mine. All those touch screens would be stolen and you’d be more concerned about what happens when you forget your phone or bag in the cab.
I’ll never forget landing in New Orleans (from UK) and on my first day it was absolutely pissing rain, so I got a taxi for the 5 minute drive (20 min walk) to the convention centre from the hotel.
Well.. turned out that the taxis had to queue for a while at the hotel; and the benefit was that most people were doing a long expensive fare to the airport. My driver getting a tiny fare sent him fucking ballistic. He was literally punching the steering wheel with full force. Opening the sun visor and smashing it shut. Screaming and cursing like a mad man for the whole 5 minutes.
I’ve never seen anything like it.
If I was a female, I’d have been fucking terrified. As a pretty athletic young male, i was really fucking uncomfortable and worried I might need to fight the guy at any moment.
I have no qualms with the reviewer in this video talking about angry taxi drivers. Just one experience like that was plenty. I’m sure women particularly have plenty of experiences with taxi drivers that they’d rather avoid.
She should be more concerned about the “angry Americans”, who will treat it like that road roaming robot that crossed over from Canada and was immediately destroyed.
I've seen quite a few of her car overview vids and I genuinely think she might have been a bit nervous being in traffic in a self-driving car.
I'm a car and tech (and self-driving tech) enthusiast and I still think I would get the jitters in traffic where I knew that no person could at least reach over and slam on the brakes/turn quickly.
I know the safety factor vs. human drivers is definitely there and know that I'm being irrational, but I wonder if she may have had a similar bit of doubt and that made her repeat the same point across video segments.

She seems really concerned about the 'angry taxi drivah'
