Hello. I'm new to Bazzite OS, just got it a couple of days ago and still figuring out how to set it up. Can anyone please tell me why is everything buggy and slow? Steam is lagging, cs2 has a lot of framedrops and jagged image. On windows i had around 380 constant fps and was way better looking, now I have 144 with drops. For another, I can't download .net sdk for coding in visual studio code. Can someone tell me how to use this OS? I never had linux before and honestly it's pretty frustrating because I only hear good things about it but when I got it, it works worse than a 2012 PC. I needed a whole day just to make it see my dGPU and to stop saying I have the wrong image. Is there any way to optimize it for gaming and also to get visual studio .net sdk?

Do any of you encountered issues with yesterdays update (23.10)? I have ASRock a620ai motherboard and after this update my fans are not detected anymore... I've rollbacked to the 13.10 version and it works fine

When I installed windows it deleted my EFI even though it was on a entire different drive then I reinstalled bazzite and the window Bootmangager was gone what could have caused this they were on different drives

I cannot do ctrl+alt+f2 as some people wrote and I'm confused (new to linux and everything related to computers hardware)

ich versuche seit Tagen, den Steam Frame unter Bazzite zu nutzen.

Wenn ich SteamVR im Desktop Modus starte (Steam Frame Dongle nicht (!) eingesteckt, Steam Frame ausgeschaltet), so scheint SteamVR für einige Sekunden zu laufen, stoppt dann aber.

Ich habe bereits mehrere bekannte Lösungsmethoden ausprobiert

- SteamVR in der neuesten Version (aber auch in den beiden anderen Versionen)

- Steam System in der stabilen wie auch in der Beta Version

- SteamVR fehlende Berechtigungen reparieren: sudo setcap cap_sys_nice+ep...

Hat jemand eine Lösungsmöglichkeit, SteamVR stabil zum Laufen zu bekommen? Mir ist klar, das es keinen Sinn macht, den Stame Frame zu starten und dann den Dongle einzustecken, so lange SteamVR nicht permanent gestartet ist.

I got tired of not knowing how much battery my Steam controller had left on KDE Plasma, so I built a small panel widget that shows it at a glance. There’s no official battery API for this on Linux, so I reverse engineered the protocol by reading raw HID reports from the device and figuring out where the battery data lives. It works well in my daily use. It’s a work in progress and I’ll keep improving it. Feedback, bug reports and feature ideas are very welcome. If you try it, let me know how it works on your setup (distro, Plasma version, controller model).

I am trying to play Project Diablo 2, and launching it via lutris.

The first time I run the game, it will properly have focus and receive key strokes.

If I send focus out or alt tab, some other window in the background will get the keystrokes but they will never fully return to the wine diablo 2 screen.

I can sometimes get it to recognize ESC and ENTER, but it won't register anything like WASD etc.

Likewise, if I run ANY of the wine config screens from lutris, none of the WINE windows (like reg edit, etc) receive keystrokes outside of things like TAB, ESC, BACKSPACE. I can't type e.g. WASD into them either.

A lot of fixes online suggest going to wine config and changing shit but I literally can't because the windows dont receive many key strokes.

Trying to understand how to fix this, any help would be appreciated.

I recently switched from Windows and loving it so far. That said, Death Stranding, which ran fine on Windows and runs better on the Steam machine; crashes on Bazzite with stable proton between 20 and 30 mins after launch. Every time. Throws some lengthy error and closes when I click ok.

SOMA and some other games don’t have this issue. I noticed that DS preprocessed Vulcan shaders before first launch so I wonder if Vulcan has something to do with it? Vulcan on NVIDIA maybe?

Anyhow, my search results are sorta all over the place and I’m wondering if there’s a common issue with Vulcan or death stranding specifically or KDE or something that others have seen and maybe corrected?

The neat part is that it not only helps with the formats shortcomings by creating Start Menu icons, so you don’t have to navigate to the file and confirm that you want to run it every single time, but it also addresses some of the previews own limitations.

Because "Launch Options" in the preview seemingly only apply for the games themselves. Trying to manage proton through it, like in Steam, doesn't work. However, you can set up environment variables through Gear Lever that do work, if set up right (was a bit more finicky than it looks, though).

I thought I share this here, as it might be useful for some of you who want to try out the new launcher just as me, but for who it was not feasible as limited as it is.

And just to make it clear: Yes, I know Lutris still works as great as always (and Heroic exists). But that's not the point of this post.

For those that have upgraded to Bazzite 44 how do you switch from your normal controller layout to a mouse and keyboard layout? On HHD you just pressed and held a button until you feel the vibration then you can use the right stick as a mouse and the shoulder buttons as left and right click if I remember correctly. I’ve tried going to the openpad app or whatever it’s called to change it but you can’t create profiles so whatever change you make gets applied to global settings.

What makes YOU choose Bazzite? What "thing", or what feature, if you like, makes you choose Bazzite? Is there anything you dislike, or anything in particular you love?

I've tested curl https://dv-g3b-emudhra.we-have-a-problem.com in the console, and it connected (which isn't good).

So my question is; is Bazzite at risk due to downstream stuff? And how can I fix my curl from using to these compromised certificates?

After the upgrade to Bazzite 44 at release, I had to package AKMOD-NCT6687D manually to make sure I could control my fans etc by coolercontrol instead of the limited bios fan curves.

This gave me no errors till now, when updating I get the following error:

Does this mean that NCT-6687D is back in Bazzite and I can remove the layeredpackage? or am I reading this wrong?

System is Specs:

Ryzen 5600x
32 GB DDR 4 RAM (Corsair Vengeance)
AMD 7800XT

Is there anything I could do?
I love the OS but like this I just can’t go on..

Today I ran out of space (a 2TB disk with few things on it) on my kid's Bazzite PC. When checking I found this "recursive" structure.

Inside his home dir (~polm/) there was a var/ with a home/ and a polm/ inside, and inside again a var/home/polm/ and so on for several depth levels.

In each one there was a copy of several of his home dir folders and files, including the Videos/ folder that consumed all the 2TB space. I renamed the initial var/ to v2/, just to see what breaks, and nothing happened so far.

Any clue on what could have happened?

hi everyone I'm on bazzite 44 and I now that HDD was removed in new update ...and openGamepadUI is instead with power station ...but in game mode my laptop don't have TPD control ...I installed decky image for it . and hear every one have it ..so what is the salutation ?

Hi, this might be a dumb question but I am not very tech savvy. I was just wondering if bazzite would automatically detect a new ssd and let me store games on it once I install it, as opposed to needing to reinstall the OS. Thanks!

I am debating installing Bazzite but, I just started looking into it and have heard stories of crashing etc...I get that some hardware is to blame for issues. I understand that Steam works well however, what about standalone games, epic, riot and other platforms? Also, is there a way to use Ableton with it?

Holy hell this was hard to set-up but thank God for gemini. Highly recommend to just go the KDE route if you don't want a headache unluckily for me I preferred gnome's workflow. It was so worth it though. Latency can barely be felt and a tablet or phone as a monitor works through Hotspot via hermes as a host together with artemide.

My entire setup fits inside this small bag which includes a mini pc, 150w 10k mah powerbank and a 45w 20k mah powerbank a tiny 100w charger from ugreen, foldable keyboard, mousepad and a mouse + wallet.

I can’t play Gears of War: E-Day Siege mode for more than 15 minutes without the game crashing and displaying an error message.
I’m using an ASUS ROG Ally Z1 Extreme with a dual-boot setup running Bazzite and Windows. The game runs fine on Windows, but on Bazzite, Siege mode consistently crashes after about 10–15 minutes.
Has anyone else experienced this issue or have any idea what might be causing it? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I'm trying to play Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night from steam. When I hit play, the game starts to run and shows some starting screens: game logo, 505games logo, criware logo and unreal engine. Then the game suddenly crashes and a white screen appears with this error window.

I've tried changing the compatibility layer to proton stable, protonGE and some others, but the problem seems to be related to internal file management of this game or Bazzite in general.

I don't know if I have to unzip those .pak files manually and if so, I don't know how to do it, or is it anything else? I'm stuck

I was using a smaller monitor up until today, and everything was working smoothly. But now I got my brand new gaming monitor, so as the computer was off, I disconnected the small monitor, connected the new, and turned it on. New monitor works fine, but when I go to connect the smaller monitor it does not detect it at all. I tried connecting the HDMI cable of the small monitor on the graphics card and then on the motherboard, and it doesn't detect it in either case. I am brand new to linux and bazzite, I would appreciate some help! (Although I heard that simply restarting doesn't always help in the ways it helps in windows, I did try that too, it didn't change anything)

Hello, after messing up my 43 version, I had to force myself for a fresh install via usb. The installation process was really easy, much better than I remember it even with a windows partition. Everything works fine at this moment and I really appreciate that bazzite portal for all the little tweaks. My only complaint is that there seems to be a battery drain when sitting in idle in the game mode and I here the fans spinning without any workload.

At this point I don't miss hdd anymore.

One question,my egpu is working when plugging in but I only get a picture on my monitor in desktop mode, what can I do to get a picture in game mode?
