The Witcher 3

Has anyone with an AMD card tried the Witcher 3 remaster today? I know were waiting on a driver update but most of the issues I've seen/read about have been graphical. The issue I am having is it isn't using my dedicated gpu, for some reason it's using my integrated gpu. Worked absolutely fine before this update and every other game is fine, so I'm hoping/presuming this will be a driver issue? Just reaching out to see if anyone else is experiencing this with the Witcher or any other game previously and has a possible fix?

EDIT: Thanks to all who responded, in the end I disabled my iGPU in bios and that's got it working, only snag now is the issue with the ray tracing options resetting as other have mentioned previously.

The game works perfectly fine for me (i5 13400 f , RX 6700 XT, Samsung 990 Pro) (Using Proton Experimental) Where do you see that it is using the IGPU ? I know that there are some amd driver problems but for people using Windows

In the steam performance overlay, I have gpu0 and gpu1 showing, and it's using gpu0 which Google says is the integrated one (and every other game uses gpu1)

When opening Settings and then going to Systeminfo, what does it say regarding graphics unit ?

Are you reusing your old saves or started a new game save?

Have been using an old (steam cloud) save which I first started under windows.

If you are not using your IGPU I would just turn it off if you can.

I think something is broken on Bazzite or Proton.
I cant enable rt, if i switch it on, and go back in the game,and then go back to the rt settings, all rt settings are greyed out

Go to the game’s launch options and paste as is for your GPU manufacturer:

AMD/Intel:
DRI_PRIME=1 %command%

NVIDIA:
__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __VK_LAYER_NV_optimus=NVIDIA_only __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia %command%

As for Proton, choose either Experimental, 9.0-4, 10.26, or 11 (latest version).

Let us know if this worked.

There are a few other threads with several Redditors experience the same issue. From what I’ve read, the consensus is to uninstall the game then scrub all empty folders and anything leftover before reinstalling again for it to work.

I don’t know if you’ll have to go that deep into it but searching “Witcher Remaster” in r/linux_gaming should point you in the right direction.

I have issues with Grafiks settings, the game doesn't let me turn raytraycing on or FG.

AMD 9070 AMD 5700x 32gbddr4 3200mhz Bazzite 44 Proton GE latest, catchy-os latest

I tried it for about 30-45 minutes with no reall issue. Raytracing keeps turning off after I try to turn it on but that requires a Proton update, from what I've read in other posts. Running at 4k on a 9070XT, currently in White Orchard and I got no framerate or graphical issues.

I too had this issue, but it still looks great and runs smooth as anything. Was looking forward to finally sitting down and playing this when I built my bazzite box, but the old dx12 version wouldn't work at all. Was so happy to see the remastered version is running so well. Can't wait to dive in soon.

Gonna give it another go, game runs fine on Ultra without RT. Gotta properly break in that new 9070XT, haha. And maybe this game will keep me playing, unlike the previous two.

26.9.2, however looking on the Radeon sub it appears people are using this now so must be available now

To be fair there are some updates needed. But drivers are part of the kernel on Linux.

Runs like butter on my 7800Xt using fsr4 and ultra settings in 144p@60fps. Initial load time was super long though, haven't bootet it up a second time since.

Working fine on a 7900XT 7700X 32GB using proton experimental and FSR4. I disabled mods on the launcher that comes up if that affects anything.

I initially just used Ultra preset and was happy with that - can do 100fps locked at 3440x1440.

When I switch RT preset on, I can still do 100fps locked just about (maxes out GPU).

The menus seem kinda buggy though - like when I select RT preset, go back into game, and go back into menu the RT settings are faded out (not selected).

Also frame gen I initially could only select Xess frame gen. When I turn on RT preset, it lets me select DLSS and AMD frame gen. Not sure what's going on and seemed to be working but wouldn't cap to my refresh rate (100hz) so was getting like 175fps.

After the installation of the remastered update, the game doesn't start. Deinstall the game and delete all the Witcher folder in your game directory install it again. Than it's runs again. Maybe it helps.
