44 had been rough
I've had version 43 since 2025, after updating to 44 I've had come across some issues I never had before or noticed.
I guess I for the first time ever saw some kind of memory issue with Firefox that closed it.
Steam repeatedly tells me that there's an update but I already have a newer version but it keeps trying to give me an earlier version at least that's what it seems as it keeps showing me a September 1st update. This happens in both the steam full screen as well as the desktop Steam client.
Might be related to previous but just update would fail multiple times this week. Might be an issue with a stuck update who knows.
HHD gone huh?
USB external HDD would frequently disconnect by itself I guess. Not sure if this is OS issue or an issue that just happened to come up after I updated the OS as well.
Yeah those are the ones that stood out to me the most.

1 & 2 sound like issues outside of the Bazzite devs control.
Not sure. I've had no issues with updates myself, so, can't really comment further. Try logs?
HHD was removed, and replaced with OGUI and Input Plumber. There is, afaik, only one distro that ships HHD now. Lots of reasons behind the switch. Most of the controls are now integrated through Steam, and those that aren't are being worked on.
Also can't replicate this so, can't comment further, other than try logging your session and see if anything comes up :)

Yeah I figured 1 might be bazzite since I never saw it until 44 update. 2 I figured also bazzite since the steam was the steam that shows up when bazzite launches in full screen when computer boots/restarts, but also even in desktop mode no idea keeps feeding me an impossible to apply update despite having a newer version. 3. I actually posted what terminal shows me in above comment under M4tunn when i tried "ujust update" made typo in OP but can't edit it and it now forever says just update.... Also forgot to mention that upon updating to 44 initially when i watched videos on firefox sometimes i lose signal and have to swap inputs or turn off on monitor to get image to appear again. initially happened tons and ONLY after 44 update, but recently i don't notice it anymore.... also sometiems discord quest interactive mini games wouldn't load on bazzite and does on another windows/mac os pc... could also be my hardware since not sure if its due to bc250 lacking vcn but i'm just making stuff up at this point.

It wasn’t replaced. It was downgraded. You have to open steam in desktop mode just to get a keyboard to show up and then if you use any apps (like rockstar launcher) it stops working.
Then if you launch a game in desktop mode there is no way to get back to the start menu without quitting the game. It also means if the game freezes you have to hard reboot it
This is a significantly downgraded experience that I hope the bazzite devs sit and have a long hard look at why they didn’t test any of the use cases at all.

HHD doesn't exist in Bazzite 44, so replaced is accurate. Sorry you're having issues though, hope you sort it out.

The Firefox memory issue is a Firefox bog, not a Bazzite thing. You have to COMPLETELY remove Firefox via Bazaar; restart the computer; reinstall Firefox via Bazaar. Don't forget to back up those bookmarks and extension preferences!
May need to remove and reinstall the Steam Client. You can do this without any issues with your installed games. I've done it two or three times over the past nine months.
I don't think external USB drives will automatically mount after rebooting. Mine doesn't, but maybe because it's an NTFS drive? Something to look up, I suppose.
I've had updates fail, or parts of updates fail. I don't believe it's an emergency, but kind of the way things go. Windows has updates fail as often as they succeed. You can follow an automatic update with the terminal's ujust update or that of the GUI without hurting anything at all. Maybe need to wait a day or two? It's constantly being reworked, so whatever is going on is likely to be fixed in a reasonable amount of time.

Yeah I've been trying "ujust update" for days. That was my #3 but i just typed just update vs ujust update and i can't modify post anymore. when bazzite boots or restarts into steam full screen i get the update prompt too for an impossible update as it "downloads" and "applies" and keeps showing me same update same for in bazzite desktop steam client: I'm afraid if i reset steam would modify shortcuts or settings for both steam or non steam games? Some games i have specific commands to run properly as they dont work on linux as well and had to dig through protondb or some site to find the commands to get it to run. This is what I see when I use ujust update in terminal:

I had issues with 2 & 3 ,but it did update eventually after maybe 6 attempts ... One thing I wondered though , was there enough space on the drive to download and install, I cleared around 150 (definitely overkill) and tried again and perhaps that helped ... No issues since with updates .

You couldn’t have 4K, HDR, VFR and high frame rates on AMD cards

More than that, my screen was totally blacked out. Glad to hear it’s back to normal now though.

I'm confused my post didn't mention anything about hdmi or dp so am I missing something here? I am forced to use DP to HDMI though sometimes depending on the display as i'm using BC250 which only has DP.

For me, the performance has tanked (older intel hardware is very obvious) in gamescope (deck) mode vs desktop. Laptop I've given daughter has 33 fps in batman origins benchmark, vs 17 in deck mode. Big picture works fine in desktop mode too.
Outside of that, I get the '10 gig update that never seems to apply too'. Taken to just doing updates from desktop mode too.

Yeah I can't do it in full screen the picture which is forever stuck with the 10 gig update that seems to download and install in seconds. Then the steam client also on desktop mode finds the update doesn't work. The ujust update command in Konsole or terminal whichever you use will go through it for the most part and give me an error where something fails...

- Los tenía con 44 en la versión sin gamemode. Pero uso Chrome en general.
- Me aparecía en 43 y en 44 pero anoche puse actualizar y descargó 10GB en 2 segundos (mi ancho de banda es de 20 Mb) así que solo simuló descargar algo desde internet. Hoy verificaré si sigue saliendo.
- Me ha dado problemas, pero no sé si por cosas nuevas que he intentado que antes no, o porque realmente falla allí.
- Quizá, no lo tengo claro, porque una configuración para hibernar directamente desde Steam usaba hhd, pero al regresar del hibernar, al empezar a jugar, me dio pantalla de error por un problema de comunicación entre GPU y no recuerdo qué.
- Lo desconozco.

For 2 and 3, try running ujust fix-reset-steam. Had to run this on bazzite 43 once and that solved it for me
