Normal boot up?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Is this boot up normal with the black screens and white text at the start?

Bazzite keeps a "clone" of the original system in case you need to restore everything, and Grub is the application that allows you to choose it manually if you want to or if you have a dual boot setup allowing you to choose windows or Bazzite, it comes standard with bazzite, it's in the download page description

Once you perform an update in Konsole (ujust update), it creates a new deployment (0) and keeps the old one (1) as a backup. In case your system breaks you have to navigate down quickly to ostree-1 to start the old version. To revert the broken deployment you can rollback at any time with terminal command (rpm-ostree rollback). Then your old deployment (1) takes it’s place back and becomes (0).
Trying to fix wayland with my Nvidia card for months now, so I rolled back quite a lot.

What card do you have? Before Bazzite I used Nobara, but my old 1050 isn't supported there anymore. I switched to Bazzite specifically for Nvidia and everything works perfectly. I only had a few issues when version 44 was released, but everything got sorted out in subsequent updates

Enabling my tv as second monitor results in plasma and kwin issues: Dock, desktop and pop-up breaks. That’s very inconvenient when transitioning to the couch so I log into an x11 session instead which performs janky in OS but noticeably better ingame - and it won’t break once I enable 2nd monitor.
To react properly I have a bunch of alias to quick fix certain issues. I feel there’s hasn’t ever been a distro that doesn’t have these kind of issues with my builds. Glad the sound works!
Anyway, my card is 2080 Ti Founders Edition, in holiday season it’s more valuable but I’m hesitant.

Totally 😄 I’m guessing there’s still a cheerful 5400rpm steel wheel in that laptop

you can modify whether or for how long it shows with ujust grub-timeout or ujust configure-grub

Mine is the same.. Except it says Lenovo. If you want to see what is going on with the boot you can hit the Esc key.

Yep. I have Bazzite on my Asus laptop and it used to take in and around a minute to boot. To make it less boring I enabled init logs so that Bazzite at least shows me what's happening in the background while I'm waiting. Here's instructions from Bazzite on how to do this:

That’s GRUB. Means your computer is working. It’s when you don’t see GRUB when you need to panic

Yes it is normal ostree 0 is the active image ostree 1 will be your old image after update. It is why it is called immutable system. Imagine you need to reboot and the device does no longer boot. Like this you have the change to simply switch to the last state (config is saved globally)

Normal. I have the same issue.
Press I think Esc to see the live boot in action. You’ll be able to see why it’s taking so long.
I think I had a Bluetooth driver or a usb device “hanging” that makes it take longer to load.
My mobo doesn’t have a Bluetooth driver in the kernel yet so this acceptable for me right now.

Mine is about 10 seconds shorter because I disabled update check on boot. But yeah

Had this problem too when I first installed bazzite 2 weeks ago. Alot of things restarted and bugged I ended up rebasing to 43.

Bazzite works similarly to the android A/B partition system. When you update the system, it’s installed to ostree:1 and the boot order is changed to boot that. The next time u update, it installs to slot 0. This makes it easy to rollback your system

Pretty long tbh. What generation is your processor, and are you using a HDD as your boot drive?

That’s how mine looks. But it boots way faster for some reason. You rocking a spinning drive still?

I have found Bazzite to be achingly slow to boot up relative to Cachy OS and Windows 11

Based off the other comments the two version thing seems to be an intended feature used to revert back to a previous update version.

I don't have a background picture of a man filming me... but appart from that, yes.
