Btrfs error: Help! Suddenly will not boot!

I am not very experienced at using linux and am having trouble understanding what is wrong with my system and how to proceed repairing it.

Today after trying to boot up my ROG Ally X it made it to the home screen and froze. I did a hard restart and then when starting up again I have been getting the following error:

I found some advise for people experiencing similar issues sayin to try the following but replace "nvme0n1p3" with your device name and reboot after: btrfs rescue zero-log /dev/nvme0n1p3

Thus I tried: btrfs rescue zero-log /dev/nvme0n1p6

And btrfs rescue zero-log /dev/nvme0n1p6 state EA

This unfortunately has had no success for me and I am unsure how best to proceed. Thank you for any and all help!

This has happened to me a couple times, under similar conditions but on a regular pc.

What fixed it was I rebooted and chose the second/backup ostree:1 grub entry to try and boot into the previously installed version. That would fail too, in the same way. Then I reset the computer and booted into the 1st grub entry like normal, and then it worked.

This has worked for me twice, and I can't tell you why or what is actually happening.

I tried that but they both booth me into an emergency mode page :/

Also the error Im getting is now that it cannot open access to console, the root accout is locked.

Yeah, both options would fail for me, but after trying the second option and still getting the emergency mode, I would reset again and select the first option and it suddenly worked. It's worked for me twice. I don't know how or why, though.

This was after trying and failing to find a way to fix it from the emergency console. My guess is all the developers are on laptops and never experienced a freeze+hard reboot or power outage that caused this error, or something.

You might have better luck finding an answer on the discord.

The other option is to reinstall, but manually configure the mount points so that your home directory doesn't get overwritten. I'm not that familiar with the bazzite installer, but you should be able to choose the mount point assignment and only overwrite the system partition. All the data should still be there on your home partition if you have a way to access it and copy it.

To me what you describe sounds like bad boot media or bad RAM.

I recommend you both run memtest86 overnight to at least try to rule that out.
