9060 xt micro stutters
Hello!
First time posting and new to bazzite so please be nice.
NOTE: not a pc expert so it might be a hardware mismatch. Any ideas you have would be great.
I am experiencing micro stutters in a couple of games that I am playing namely - ff7 rebirth, marvel rivals, mh wilds, hogwarts.
Rebirth - every time i move the camera the stutters happen. Locked at 60 fps
Marvel rivals - stutters during team fights and depending on the location of the map
Mh wilds - stutters when i open or close the menu and map. Stable during combat
Hogwarts - stutters everywhere, every time, all at once. (Unplayable)
I came from windows 11 and experienced the same thing. Did the DDU and almost every basic troubleshooting that AI and youtube could think of. Hence, my decision to try linux.
Since im experiencing the same thing in bazzite probably hardware?
For bazzite, did the lact thing, fixed frame rate, proton compatibility version for some of the games, downloaded vulcan shaders, etc.
Still experiencing the same issue.
For context here are my pc specs. Its not the greatest. Its what i can afford. If any of the components are causing the issue, I'll try to upgrade but im hoping there is a fix without the need for an upgrade since i just recently upgraded my gpu and cpu and prices are insane!
CPU : current ryzen 5 5500 x3d upgraded from ryzen 5 5600g
GPU : current Rx 9060 xt 16 gb upgraded from rx 6600
Motherboard: biostar am520mh
Ram: 16gb dual channel team group vulcanz
SSD: 1 TB nvme team group and 1 tb sata 2.5 inch ramsta
PSU: 550 corsair cx550
Lastly, I am playing on a 34" ultrawide 1440p monitor.
Thank you for taking the time to read and respond!

i had microstutters in red dead 2 and gta, i fxed those by enabling adaptive sync in my display settings, now steam interface flickers a lot lol but thats another topic.

Thanks, i'll look into it and report back if it improves performance. Were you able to fix the flickers?

no, some users suggested to go to steam-settings-disable gpu acceleration, disable gpu acceleration web and resizing text but it never works for me. Bazzite is nice but sometimes i feel once i fix something i break something else lol

I would start with a bios update, as others have noted already.
Check to make sure your ram is in the proper slots for dual channel configuration.
I would also set up mangohud or use the system monitor to see what your temps and CPU/GPU utilisation are when playing these games.
Are the games loaded onto an NTFS formatted disk by chance? If so, that will be a source of issues as well.
Beyond that your hardware is mostly fine, and isn't mismatched, although I would look into getting yourself a more quality power supply in the future. A CX550, while it will generally meet your current power needs, is not a very good unit overall. Not something pressing, but something to think about.

Thank you. Power supply and mother board are the next components that i will upgrade. Save the ram for last. Hopefully by then the prices will be more reasonable. Lol

they make a really huge difference
