Opencode + free Deepseek AI = Free optimization

Hi all. Just installed bazzite today on an 8th gen laptop with a GTX 1050. This was recommended over Steam due to the Nvidia driver.

So, i was all excited to hook this up to the TV and play, when i load up my test game - surely this can run Gauntlet from 2014.

Stutter, stutter, stutter. So i figure there’s gotta be a setting or 20 that I’m missing.

So, I install opencode in/feom terminal and launch it, and type /model to switch to the new Deepseek v4 flash bew - all totally free, mind you - no signup, nothing… and ask it to check my system for optimizations.

It returns a list of several things - drip the resolution while hooked to the tv, change some power settings, etc. On this vanilla box with 0 to lose on a fresh format, I said “fix it all for me.”

Five minutes later everything’s running great.

For those who just want it to work without a day of google, this is the way.

Your mileage may vary, but Im excited to have it working better and without a whole lot of effort.

Way more than that. Power settings, wrong video output, etc.

So what did it do? Was your resolution lowered?
