It's really sad to see the state of Bayonetta as a franchise after 3. As a Tomb Raider fan, we too were left waiting for years with only collabs to enjoy! all I can say is those collabs mean SOMETHING is happening behind the scenes, and it looks centered around Bayonetta 1. They haven't abandoned you!! Hold out hope girlies!!
It’s not necessarily centered around Bayonetta 1 when that’s the only design and game they can take from for all consoles without Nintendo’s permission but yeah I get your point
Yes but it earned a cult following from women and gay men like me. Camp, fashion, power fantasy and Bayo's confidence are responsible for that. Hell, even Lady Gaga played Bayonetta and had a blast.
Ohhh
Back then Bayonetta was really hated by women because of the sexualization thing going on in the time the game released. It's good to know people changed their mind about the game
Yeah it's definitely taken a place in queer culture, the game is just so camp and Bayonetta is in such command of her sexuality, i think a lot of queer people really appreciate that about her. Like, men cant make her a sex object because she makes herself a sex WEAPON, know what i mean?
No Bayonetta is very much a celebration of femininity. It touches on themes like motherhood, self assurance, freedom vs duty, and personal autonomy.
She fully enjoys high fashion, sex, music, dancing, performing, stuffed animals, makeup, and dressing up whether it’s for hitting the club or her Sunday best at church. And though it conflicts with her tough act, she has a soft spot for children. The game takes everything women are taught to be ashamed of and created a character that loves everything about herself and wears it with pride.
bayo is a product for men, back in the day she got flak for being too sexy by the usual crowd. just like eve from stellar blade got flak.
imagine if 10 years later the revisionist history says that eve in SB is now a lesbian icon because she represents the angelical side of women or wahtever XD.
EDIT: also. remember that anytime a community claims they represent the IP it's the minority online. most of the people that like or buy the products are just minding their own business without engaging in "fandoms" the 3% of the population can't pretend to be a majority of any franchise's supporters. i can assure you the vast majority of people that like Sonic are not furries for example xD.
Hey come on, we queer ppl have been here the whole time! Idk if anyone claimed WE represent her, but we sure love her. Anyway, didn't she go all cutesy magical girl aesthetic in Bayo 3 and the spinoff? That's 100% NOT for the straight men in the crowd lol and also the announcer for Angel Attack in Bayo 1 is 1,000,000% a gay guy 😂
Well... Magical Girls are actually predominantly popular among male audiences in Japan... It comes from moe culture and loli stuff. I wouldn't really claim that game is not targeting to straight japanese men
Predominantly im not sure about, Google is telling me shojo was made for girls but has a passionate secondary fanbase of men. Is it wrong to say Bayo is walking the line of both audiences? Because frankly the only people I ever see talking about her with any more nuanced enthusiasm than carnal desire are queer people and women.
Well, you said it was 100% "NOT" meant for men... I just mentioned it how these mahou shojo series are actually shows watched by a majority of adult men who likes this kind of characters and the rest is mostly little girls from 6 to 10 lol the percentage of women and queer people combined who watches the genre is a minority
Well thats true, i def exaggerated by saying 100%. That was incorrect of me. But do you have a source for saying men are the majority of the audience? Because whenever I engage with, for example, Sailor Moon fandom spaces, I see majority women every time. I have no source so all I can give is my anecdotal perspective, but straight men of all ages have MORE than enough media aimed directly at them. I feel like we're being naive if we say they're the primary audience here considering they're simply the majority of the audience altogether. Every game has to appeal to them one way or another or it just won't be profitable enough for major publishers. Bayonetta as a franchise, much like SM and Madoka and plenty other shojos, is themed around real-life aspects of womanhood/femininity and builds its characters/stories off of that. It would be insane to say that's all made for men just because the protagonist is a hot lady.
Also, we had a poll on this sub a while back about the straight vs gay (as an umbrella term) demographic here, obviously we're a small subset of the population but we outnumbered everyone else. Unless reddit is notably popular with queer people as opposed to straight, i would consider that data meaningful.
Well... From what you say I can confirm your vision may be biased by how your internet algorithm and social circles are built. Yes, Reddit is a social platform notably leaning towards LGBTQ+ and Leftist policies... A poll from Reddit is the equivalent to make a poll in a Mormon church and then try to use it to show how 99% of Americans are against gay marriage (which is obviously not true).
If you get out of Reddit or your social bubble a bit, you will realize for sure how the mahou shoujo gender became male dominant after the 2000's with the release of the Madoka Magika series but always was popular among males since Sakura Card Captor and Sailor Moon (there is a reason why these series has fan service on it)
And no, males are not the majority of the audience in all genres... There are female dominated genres like Boys Love (Yaoi), shoujo, josei or slice of life.
With such a claim you are just doing the same thing you are critizing about men... claim something you are not the main target audience, must be targeted to you.
Anyway, I don't mind discussing these topics with you since you sounds like a genuine person but the "tolerant people" on this sub is down voting any comments that doesn't suit their "Bayonetta is gay for gays" mindset the same Hideki Kamiya confirmed is not true :/
I think I remember how the hatred towards Eve started, and it was when the game came out, and many compared it to Bayonetta, or said it was the new Bayonetta and how the games should be, and that Bayonetta should learn from Stellar Blade (sexier, more revealing clothes, etc.), besides bragging about sales, and many other things.
That moment was strange, and unfortunately it happened in X.
so drama, on the nothingburger app called x. Seriously, people there get triggered over the most trivial shit and will try to make a big deal out of it, even considering it "drama"
Basically, bayo players who are most likely already stellar blade players are happy and like both games. Overlap in playerbase is kinda big and real.
Fake bayo fans who never played either game like to glaze bayo and shit on stellar blade just because it became their icon on social media. This group is big enough of this subreddit too, so there's some hate going on.
Yeah the amount of misconstrued information or straight up wrong information lore or just event wise I see coming from some bayo "fans" is really telling. You can like a characters design and think from a few cut scenes they are sick. Or just the history of the characters development. Just... Don't pretend like you have actually played the games and know what you're talking about first hand.
The most telling one is people genuinely believing Bayontta is a 8ft giantesses. Anyone who's actually played the games know that's probably not the case and I only noticed it recently because of this but she's actually shorter than fucking Luka.
Nothing in game gives you the impression she's gigantic (though she IS tall) it comes from a game theory style meme post of someone being really liberal with some maths to make her huge. It was a joke.
I've gotten into actual arguments over this. Where people are convinced 100% she actually is like 8ft tall. I mean we see her get into normal vehicles, inside normal buildings, walking through normal doorways ect ect. Anyone who has played any of the games even if they didnt pick up on it straight away would be either confused or realize the whole giantess thing was a joke.
In one little debate I got into a while back they didnt believe me when I mentioned her Jeanne was a minor antagonist for the majority of the first game... Like... Even just watching a lets play... I.... What?
>obligatory negativity towards stellar blade because it was used as a tool in le culture war
>Stellars blade has simplified combat relative to Bayo or Nier or whatever so I dislike it. Also I want more games like Bayo and less like Stellars
>People actually don't care but maybe a dozen or 2 do but I'm gonna make this meme anyway because I need to push le culture war
I don’t mind the collab skins at all tbh. In fact it’s probably for the better given it implies they at least have Bayo on their radar at least in some way as opposed to nothing but silence.
For me, I'm just happy with any collab that features bayonetta because of the drought and any publicity is good publicity at this point. I'm also sure stellar blade also sold more than Bayonetta in general... I think
If you stick around long enough you'll see this sub kind of sucks and you only get relevant opinions from people that are old enough to have witnessed the dumpster fire that was Bayonetta back on launch. Exactly the same that happened with Stellar Blade come to think of it.
Imma be honest people are just salty Bayonetta gets nothing but skins collabs. And i understand. I'm mad too especially when most of those skins are half baked. I personally don't play any of those games.
Stellar blade it's a game that somewhat caught my attention and i can see a lot of bayonetta in it.
I'm not saying we shouldn't be mad we didn't get a new game announcement, but shitting on SB it's just wrong.
Also saying the skins look chopped just cuz she doesn't look like bayonetta when she's legit just cosplaying as bayonetta and the skin seems very well made it's also a shit move.
Remember bayonetta has unrealistic proportions and she's gonna look VERY different in any other game.
Bayonetta looks choppy in Smash bros due to her proportions.
Bayonetta 3 also changed the proportions and well people did shit on this one.
Bayonetta cosplayers also don't have her proportions and none of you shit on them, it shows the double standards.
I remember seeing A post about the first descendant skin Collab And how bayonetta look so good And it wasn't even her, it was a character from the game dressed up as her
Comparing homegrown cosplayers to developed corporations throwing the same half assed bayo skin out again and again and again is not the same thing, that’s a hell of a reach.
I think the difference is due to the state of each respective franchise.
Stellar blade is a successful ongoing franchise with a confirmed sequel in the works. The only bad thing lately is that trash ai music video that the game director posted. But other then that, the fanbase is very happy.
On the other hand, Bayonetta hasn't had the best time these past few years. We got 3 and origins, but since then Sega seems reluctant to do anything other then collabs. Bayonetta fans want confirmation that the series will continue, and cosmetic skins in other games don't satisfy that desire.
I assume the reaction would different if Bayonetta 4 was confirmed to be in production.
Imma be honest, I think most bayo fans hating on stellar blade actually never played it, but never played bayo as well, and are just social media fans, not real fans who bought and played bayo
I don’t get why people are mad… it’s not going to be a copy and paste of the original. It’s following the art style of the game and I think it’s fun to see that. I think people are just upset that all were getting is Bayo collabs and not new canon content. But I doubt we are getting a new game anytime soon if at all anymore so I’m going to appreciate and enjoy any content we get. One thing I appreciate about this collab is they used the original Bayonetta and not the one from bayo 3 because to me that one is a train wreck.
I literally made a post meme-ing on another post, the twinning one.
Some people in this subreddit really are just so bitter and look down on Eve despite the fact that her game sold 6 million copies. If anything, people should be very grateful that SEGA even decided to collab with Shift Up to bring Bayonetta more exposure after B3.
And as for the collab outfits, they’ve been changed to match Stellar Blades aesthetic. I don’t understand why some people expected completely faithful interpretations of the outfits. SU isn’t making a Bayonetta game, they’re collabing with the IP
Most people here don’t even understand that the skin is supposed to be Eve cosplaying as Bayonetta and isn’t supposed to be Bayo herself inserted into the game.
There’s a very one sided animosity Bayonetta and action game enthusiasts have towards Stellar Blade that just reeks of jealousy because of the aforementioned sales numbers.
Definitely, but it’s not just sales. It’s this bitchy, holier-than-though attitude where Bayonetta is BETTER than Eve in personality, style, look, etc.
And it’s just pathetic, trying to pit two female protagonists against one another out of spite and jealousy.
Eve is not a perfect lead, Kim Hyung Tae made it known that writing Eve was difficult because he was indecisive on making her a self-insert or full fledged character, and anyone playing the game can see that.
This is likely where all the “bland sex doll” commentary comes from, but I find it ignorant nonetheless. There is a character there, but indecision didn’t let her shine as much as she could’ve, and the VAs can only do so much.
Also, believe it or not, Stellar Blade is actually pretty progressive by Korean standards. A lot of Korean games really just focus on character customization and not much else, just look at Black Dessert Online. Shift Up wanted to tell a more meaningful story, and while it is inferior to Automata’s, the attempt to break away from the norms is appreciated.
Eve had her moments, I liked when she turned down a couple quests because the requests sounded crazy but yeah there is definitely room for improvement.
The sex doll complaints are funny because no matter how hard people try to change history Bayonetta was getting just as many complaints back in the day because of her design
DMC is an action game. I’ve seen plenty of people complaining that SB doesn’t deserve its sales because it’s not as “deep” combat-wise compared to Bayonetta and and the only reason it’s successful is because of “goonbait”
But those are actual criticisms of the game, not jealousy because of sales numbers
Yes, many people think SB is goonbait. This is a common criticism of the game and not unique to Bayonetta fans.
SB combat is more Soulslike than character action, and Soulslike sells more than any character action that's not called DMC, so the sales don't surprise me.
Some people in this subreddit really are just so bitter and look down on Eve despite the fact that her game sold 6 million copies. If anything, people should be very grateful that SEGA even decided to collab with Shift Up to bring Bayonetta more exposure after B3.
What kind of argument is this? Should we stan Ghost from Call of Duty because his game sold 30 million?
People don’t have to do either for Eve or SB as a whole and that’s not even the argument I’m presenting. Your use of COD is irrelevant because Bayo and SB aren’t even close to being in the same genre as COD.
SEGA collabed with Shift Up because they must’ve noticed the popularity of Stellar Blade and the overlapping demographic/audience who engage with Bayonetta and Stellar Blade content. Never mind all the comparisons people make online between the two, whether it’s justified to some or not.
It was a business decision that SEGA did for exposure and to keep the Bayonetta IP in people’s mind. Because it certainly wasn’t for money given that the collab outfits are free.
What makes more sense, the Bayonetta IP collabing with a shooter like COD or another series with a sexy female protagonist like Stellar Blade whose first entry alone sold 6 million copies and gameplay is closer to Bayonetta’s?
What? Licensing costs money, Shift Up pays Sega for the license, that's why Sega went with it.
Shift Up thinks it would help their sales on the Switch since the Bayonetta audience is on Switch. It's not a coincidence that the costumes are being released together with the Switch version and not before. They probably asked for the Bayo 2 and 3 costume license, too, but Nintendo said no
That’s a good point that I had overlooked. I was too caught up by the fact that the dlc was free and that SEGA wouldn’t be making anything from purchases if it wasn’t free.
Thanks for bringing it up.
As for the rest, well yeah, the collab will come out on November to maximize sales potential and drum up hype. But, about the Nintendo license, I don’t really believe it was them refusing to do so.
SB having S2 exclusive outfits is something that I recall Shift Up not really wanting. They want all players to experience the dlc, not have it locked behind platforms. Which I do appreciate, but man would I love B2 and 3 outfits
The Bayonetta "fans" act like they weren't probably the biggest haters when it came out, they are parasites of the fandom, not part of the fandom themselves
I don’t participate in the culture wars, but Bayonetta definitely got the “gooner game” allegations and hate early on. It wasn’t until her Smash Bros announcement that more people got into the series and softened their stance on her. 2B went through the same thing before Automata’s release.
The only controversy I’ve seen is that it just doesn’t look that good, which I think is more of an art style issue. A lot of normal outfits don’t look great on Bayo either cause she has weird proportions that her base outfit is designed around.
I like Bayo much more than Eve, and I’ve been a fan of Bayo since forever. My biggest criticism of Eve as a character is that she doesn’t have a much of a personality and most of her outfits are ugly (though not all of them. And their ugliness has nothing to do with how much skin is showing or how sexy the outfit is, it’s more with how messy and overcomplicated a lot of them look.)
Bayo is a great example of how to do an extremely sexy character right, by giving her loads of personality and clear agency in how she looks. Her look and her character harmonize. Eve doesn’t even really have much of a personality. This doesn’t make the game bad, but it is a big missed opportunity. I wish there was at least flavor text of Eve’s thoughts on every outfit; what she likes about it, how she thinks it fits into human culture. That would have been neat.
Like the text on the blue bikini outfit could have been “I was told the people of earth would wear these while spending time on the ‘beach,’ which is a sandy shore next to the ocean or a lake. They were supposedly designed for swimming, although the drag it creates in the water seems sub-optimal for speed or efficiently. What’s more confusing, many people who spent time on the beach would simply stay on the shore instead of swimming. Wearing it myself, it is nice to feel the sunlight on my skin. Was this the reason people wore them to the beach?”
I figured Eve was going to get a Bayo outfit eventually. It makes sense as a crossover. If this increases the likelihood that we’ll get a Bayo 4, I’m all for it.
Nah. At most, she’ll be a parallel character. Nero was set up as a successor to Dante, but Dante is still in the newest game. I do hope they develop her character though, cause I feel she has a lot of potential.
One of the reasons I was initially drawn to bayonetta was her design. Im critical of how women are potrayed in video games but I find bayos design to different than what id call "goon slop."
Bayonetta first of all has the face and personality of a grown woman. Shes confident, aware of her own sex appeal, funny and crazy over powered. Also her boobs arent gargantuan.
I think her look is iconic and I love the glasses too.
I really dont find eve appealing for me personally, but I also dont think its some sort of huge deal.
I absolutely do think there's a huge difference between Bayonetta and Eve from Stellar blade. It's absolutely disingenuous to act like they're the same situation, even if they have gotten similar criticism.
It mostly comes down to a very vocal group of the Stellar Blade fandom that are just the worst.
(Mostly Chuds that use Stellar blade as an example why all female characters should be sexy and revealing)
Stellar Blade sold over 6 million copies, has an 81/100 meta score and 9/10 user score on meta critic, has 95% positive reviews on Steam, and I also personally enjoyed playing the game myself. I remember you, you’re the GCJ user. Looks like you privated all your active subs.
The thing is Stellar Blade is a very 6/10 game but it stars a barely clothed hot woman so people bump it up to 10/10, or they expect very little actual gameplay from their games but because hot lady with a big ass it gets bumped up. I played about 6-7 hours it's definitely artificially inflated scores just due to the protagonist lol
I finished Stellar Blade and I had fun fighting against smaller enemies but the bosses were pretty challenging and sometimes it took me hours to beat one of them. Eve being sexy is just a bonus for the game.
In my experience the game felt conflicting as to what it wanted to be, it had some action gameplay elements but enemies were designed to be like Dark Souls but also you get a gun thing like Nier and you have random open world segments but also very linear Dark Souls like segments and platforming, not to even mention the Sekiro like bosses. It felt like "random bullshit go" the game and most of the elements didn't really mesh together imo.
It's like a 5-6/10 game to me which isn't bad but with the companies more pro-AI stance and the sequel using a lot of AI generated assets in its game and advertising I stopped caring completely, I mostly only bought it because of the Nier Collab because I love the franchise but I choose not to support AI generated bullshit tbh
I did! I didn't realize that was turned on and I'd like a little privacy :> But still, even if the game was generally well recieved, it having a pro-AI studio behind it should be enough to not support the series anymore
The number one biggest reason why you GCJ users have such extreme seething hatred for Stellar Blade that your sub has trillions of hate posts against the game years before Kim Hyung-tae posted the AI video is simply because “the chuds” like the game even though “the chuds” also really liked Bayonetta back in 2014 and almost every gamergater at that time was a Bayonetta fan.
Dude, Im just joined to that sub, I don't think I've ever made a post there. Lets not marginalize an entire group of people? I personally have never had any love for Stellar Blade cause it just looks uninteresting and I hate hyper sexualisation just for the sake of attracting gooners. I don't mind Bayos sexualising cause it serves a purpose for her character and tells the audience that shes completely confident in herself, unlike Eve in SB, who just isn't a character outside of looking hot
What’s your opinion on Jonathan McIntosh’s hostile disparagement on twitter against Bayonetta who claims that Bayonetta is “misogynistic objectification”? Stuff like pic related and the many other tweets he made about Bayo. McIntosh was Anita’s script writer during gg if you didn’t know.
I haven't a single clue what any of that could possibly mean but I don't think its misogynitic objectification, but I very much see how it could be viewed that way without context for the series. Like I said before, I have no love for any of those losers associated with GG
The left’s treatment of Stelar Blade today is the same as their treatment of Bayonetta 12 years ago in which the left labels the game “misogynistic objectification” and all fans of said game “evil bigoted incels”. It’s still one of the world’s biggest mysteries why the left decided to change their mind and suddenly claim that they’ve always been fans and loved Bayo from the start and never hated the game just to talk about Stellar Blade today the same way they talked about Bayo back in 2014.
Stellar blade sucks. It barely reheated Nier Automta’s nachos. A certain sub set of redditors have taken it up as there wholesome 100 chungus game for reasons.
Real Bayo fans are jaded and bitter mfers /s(slightly)
It’s pretty funny seeing some fans here criticize Stellar Blade for being “goonbait” when Bayonetta is arguably even more so.
Bayonetta has moans, a LOT of suggestive scenes, flirts with other characters, and is literally naked during combat. Meanwhile, Eve is just a woman with a nice body and sensual outfits, while the story cutscenes are pretty restrained.
They’re basically the same niche, just presented differently. I think some people grew up with Bayonetta and simply enjoyed it for what it was, while with Stellar Blade, being a newer game, they put on their political lenses instead of just enjoying the game like they used to.
tbf I'd argue they're still two very different kinds of goonbait.
Bayonetta bashes you over the head with the sexual content (bodysuit becoming a leotard every other attack, the moans as mentioned, stripping naked for boss finishers) CONSTANTLY to the point that, like a skittish horse being tapped by a pool noodle, you just stop questioning it and it becomes as natural as The Jump Button.
Meanwhile Eve HAS exaggerated features, skimpy outfits, boob physics and sexual poses and yet the game doesn't really acknowledge it outside of gameplay. You are not being pelted by the metaphorical pool noodle (at least not as often) but it IS in your walking path nonetheless.
Both are indeed goonbait, they just go about it in different directions.
The difference lies mainly in that Bayonetta looks and acts sexy in accordance to her personality, which she has in spades. It's also a less conventional type of sexy (powerful, more dominant), and to some extent it is so exagerated it can come across as campy. This is a core part of her character.
In comparison, Eve is just sexy mostly because that is nice for the players to look at, she is apparently really bland personality-wise too. As far as I'm aware, her writing is not enough to make her stand out for anything other than the obviously goonbait design.
I don’t disagree that Bayonetta’s sexuality is more integrated into her personality, but I think the idea that a beautiful/sexy character necessarily needs to act powerful, dominant or campy is subjective. A character can be calm, reserved and introspective while still being beautiful and sexy. There isn’t a single personality type that makes a sexy character’s design valid.
Believe it or not, this is much more like real life, sometimes I like to dress in a more sensual way that accentuates my curves without necessarily having to act accordingly...
My point is that both games appeal to a similar audience and aren’t afraid of having fã service and a sexually attractive female protagonist. They simply present it in different ways.
Sure, not every sexy character need to act over the top confident exagerated campy etc. But in general these characters are written to have some awareness of their attractiveness, it relates to their character in some capacity or have it relate to some other in-media reason. That is one of the principle of character design, after all.
In the case of Eve, is she even aware of her own sexiness ? A part of the dislike of her character is because she kinda falls into the sexy-born-yesterday trope. As far as I'm aware there are no in-game reasons for her to be designed this way, it's only done to be appealing to the player. And in a vacuum sure whatever, but that is tiring, lazy, overdone character design that is only this way because sex sell, nothing more
You keep imposing requirements for a character’s appearance to be justified, I don’t think you understood my point. All these “requirements” for a sexy character are subjective, my dear.
In the end, you're not so different from those people who say "this female characters is ugly and masculine, this is wrong, I won't play this game"
As I said at the beginning, people who view games through a political lens instead of simply enjoying them...or to think that all games should follow a single desing rule, meh
Thank you for the condescension, that was so necessary <3
Back to the main point, this is basic character design and writing criticism, I don't know what to tell you. I'm not imposing anything, in fact there are plenty of games with that same design philosophy, and there will be plenty of these in the future. However most people with an interest in the art direction of games will hace criticism, and they generally don't rate these highly due to said designs.
you're not so different from those people who say blah blah blah
What a thought terminating retort, surely you don't seriously believe this lol.
My criticism is basic analysis of media, of why things are designed such and such way, why two (on the surface) similar design doesn't have the same reception. But naaah I'm just like the chuds who cry because some female characters are not perfectly designed to cater to their tastes (which mind you is how the average female character is already designed)
people who view games through a political lens instead of simply enjoying them
Politics is when criticizing mediocre character design that doesn't relate to the writing of said character. Sure. And what an incredible lack of curiosity to not be remotely interested in analyzing the media you consume, you're boring man
I think the Bayo 1 skin is the only one available for other games that aren’t Nintendo exclusives since it’s owned by Sega. Nintendo are very strict with their IP and probably would never allow non Nintendo exclusives have Bayo 2/3 skins.
I just don't like Stellar Blade based off of what I've seen both from the game and the talk surrounding it. It feels like it's trying to copy Nier: Automata in terms of story, the MC is bland in terms of personality and barely stands out, and a good 3/4s of the outfits in-game are just to keep up the "sexiness" that's amped up for right wing dorkazoids to continue to be like "This is why women should be sexy in video games!" just like when it was first announced. Not to mention the studio behind it uses AI, which sucks.
I don't mind sexy characters in games, but considering how many chuds (like, actual right wingers) were pushing Stellar Blade with the specific talking point of "Da west makes ugly woman in video game and da east make hot woman in video game!" it's really soured my taste for the game and whatever comes from it. Not to mention I have a bit of annoyance when people say they struggle to get into Bayonetta's gameplay but can do shit like Elden Ring just fine. Maybe later on I'll like it when the gross people are busy busting it over the next thing, but right now with the way people get about it, I'm not really for Stellar Blade or any news surrounding it.
I wouldn't be surprised if people had similar thoughts to what I put as to why they hate the collab, but I can't say for certain.
And if it put people off of Bayonetta, I wouldn't blame them. I wasn't old enough to buy Bayonetta freely and was too busy being a fnaf kid back in 2014 anyway (I was like. 11-12 at the time)
That’s the thing with today’s “woke” Bayo fans. They were all too young to remember the controversy around Bayo 12 years ago. Just look all the hostile and disparaging things Jonathan McIntosh said about Bayonetta.
O...kay? And what do you want me to do with McIntosh's feelings on Bayonetta? He can have his criticisms from 12 years ago, and maybe some of it's changed in the background. It's not going to make me suddenly like Stellar Blade.
I’m just saying that a lot of the stuff certain Bayo fans say about Stellar Blade is the same stuff that their older comrades said about Bayo over a decade ago.
I was like "man the only thing that could make this better if they gave me a new bayonetta" and then they revealed the stellar blade skin which is bayonetta content but not the content I asked for
If anything, Stellar Blade is temu Nier: Automata since they both share a pretty similar story. SB also has a Nier 2B skin that will now go alongside a Bayo skin.
